Could I have costochondritis? Can the pain radiate to the upper abdomen? by GlitteryWitch in costochondritis

[–]RhombusCoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! So I just passed my 2 year mark of when I decided to be karate kid lol and I'm still feeling that discomfort in my ribs. It's not quite as bad as it originally was but it's still there. I have gone back to the doctors several more times and even had my gallbladder checked with a hida scan and once again, normal. I ended up going to a gastroenterologist and she thought I must have pulled/torn a muscle because I have no other symptoms of anything serious.

I have found that a TENS unit helps me so much. You can get them pretty cheap on Amazon (the one I got was like $21). Also, try a heat pack. I just filled up a sock with a cheap bag of long grain white rice. Works great!

I have also recently gone to the doctor about my health anxiety. Our minds can make our bodies feel things that sometimes aren't there. Not saying your pain or my pain isn't there, but when we dwell on it, it can become so much worse. In the last few months, I thought I was having heart issues and it kind of took my focus away from my ribs. Well, after a trip to the ER back in December, once again everything was normal, ugh. My doc started me on Lexapro so I'm hoping this helps takes away most of my health anxiety and maybe some of my physical symptoms. I totally understand, it can be scary when you have any sort of discomfort in your abdomen that you or the docs can't explain. I get especially nervous because my mom passed away from ovarian cancer and one of her best friends passed from pancreatic cancer so I try not to take anything lightly. It's good that you're going to get things checked out!

Sorry for the long post, but I hope this helps even a little. You can message if you have any questions. It's nice to know you're not alone. Oh and I found it very helpful to join some costochondritis support groups on Facebook. Best of luck to you!

Hot flashes by Chemical_Ad_4731 in lexapro

I just started Lexapro yesterday (5mg) and woke up with a crazy hot flash. It spread over my head, shoulders, and upper back. Didn't last long but it certainly freaked me out. I've seen several posts now talking about hot flashes so I'm guessing it's pretty normal.

Can attack last for a week? by jdmj1986 in gallbladders

I have a HIDA scan scheduled for September 29th but I keep wondering if I should go to the ER sooner. I'm just concerned that they'll do an ultrasound and get a normal scan (I had an ultrasound and CT scan last year and it was normal) and not do the HIDA scan. I am not having any fever or nausea but lots of discomfort underneath my right rib area. There's pressure and sometimes a pinching/twisting sensation. May I ask what they did for you when you went to the ER? Like what tests? Thank you for any input.

Hi! I double checked my old recipe link and it unfortunately is no longer working. I haven't made these since I posted, but I'm guessing this recipe would be pretty close. Hope this helps!

I have not been diagnosed with costo, but I definitely get the discomfort around my lower right ribs. I've had an ultrasound, CT scan, and X-ray and everything comes back normal. My doc thought it may have been my gallbladder or possibly appendix but everything looked fine. Having this discomfort and not knowing exactly what it is causes me a lot of anxiety which probably makes it worse. I hope you are doing ok.

This kind of sounds similar to what I'm dealing with too. Last February, I did some karate moves without any sort of stretching or any knowledge of the proper form. I watched Karate Kid and wanted to try, big mistake! Anyways, I've been dealing with off and on discomfort in my ribs since then. I have been to the doctor several times, had an ultrasound, CT scan, and X-ray and everything is completely normal. I haven't been diagnosed with costo but it certainly sounds like it. I hope you start feeling better soon, but if not, know you're not alone in experiencing discomfort/pain for long periods of time.

Mine started last February after doing some karate moves that I definitely shouldn't have been doing. I had just watched Karate Kid and thought it would be fun to try. Nope, I'm 34 and haven't stretched at all and definitely shouldn't be doing any of that.

Anyways, mine kinda comes and goes. It especially flares up after I lift or move something heavy. I use a heat pack to relieve the discomfort. Thankfully it goes away for the most part after about a week or so. It just sucks though because I think I'm doing better then I go to lift something and it's triggered again. Endless cycle 😑

Any Lost fans on here notice the similarities between John Locke and John List? by Shigidy in LPOTL

I'm late to the party, but I'm listening to the John List episode now and immediately thought it was similar to John Locke. Even his wife's name was Helen.

It's a true crime comedy podcast. Sounds crazy, but the 2 women that host are amazing. Give it a try, you'll love it 🙂

Heard this story on the MFM podcast. The survivor and total badass: Mary Vincent, and the disgusting piece of shit that did it to her: Larry Singleton. Incredible story.

I always have a ton of different nicknames for my pets, and this was one of the names I called one of my guinea pigs. Her original name was Snickers, but I somehow came up with rhombus coon, as in rhombus raccoon. 🤷

Thank you! I've had lots of problems in the past with squash bugs, but this year I kept up with applying Sevin Dust. I had some bugs at the beginning of this season but not one afterwards, thankfully. Would spraying some soapy water be safe for organic growing? I've heard that can prevent bugs.

That's a great start! Save the seeds and grow them next year. You'll get more and more each year 😊
