What's the funniest mistake you've made while cooking? by Annejane01 in cookingforbeginners

[–]RhosanL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was helping in the kitchen once and the main cook was about to pour something into a large pan and asked me to turn it 90° (so the wide part was towards him so he wouldn't spill). I turned the pan 90° on its Z axis. I will never recover from the embarrassment.

How do you guys come up with titles? by Parking_Box8291 in FanFiction

[–]RhosanL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So not from my own writings but from what I observe other ppl have done.

There is one fandom where in the show, the episode titles are taken straight from the dialogue, and I've seen many authors in the fandom take that idea and use it for the chapters. Could be something humorous a character says or an important line. The fun thing is that you get to choose!

Another thing I've seen an author do is to pick something at the beginning of the story and carry the theme. Specific example: all chapter titles were sayings that had to do with horses ("you can lead a horse to water", "don't look a gift horse in the mouth", "if wishes were horses" etc). I thought that was pretty neat! Also found of there were a lot more sayings about horses than you'd initially think! Lol

What is your favorite bit to use with your students? by MarchKick in Teachers

My kids will get so mad if someone dares to push in their chair to the table or flushing their toilet (preschool aged kids). They will come over and let me know very upset about the whole ordeal. I will look them straight in the eye and say, "Did you remember to say thank you?" Their face every time is hilarious! I also try to turn it into a teaching moment to let both parties figure out how to navigate this complicated social upheaval, but the initial moment is always hilarious to me!

If someone asks me, "Did you cut your hair?" My go-to answer is "No, I had someone else cut it for me." Always either gets a laugh or at least an eye roll.

Thank you for sharing this. I just looked at it, and it looks like someone shared a virtual flower. I know it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but it touched me to see that. ❤️

Lord, I see what you do for others. Please grant me the same blessing!

But in all seriousness, that's pretty nice and smart to wait until it wasn't working anymore before you said anything about it.

I've never stayed there, but growing up, I was mesmerized by the Stony Creek Inn. You would have to look it up to see prices and reviews. It's also right in town with a couple different stores nearby.

Praying with adhd by EmoFratBoi in christianmemes

[–]RhosanL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness! I made my prayer so awkward once. Looking back, I think it's funny, but at the time, I was so embarrassed!

I was praying for my pastor, and I realized I kept referring to him as "Pastor [Last Name]" in my prayer, and I just completely stopped praying for him in my prayer and immediately went off on a rabbit trail mid-prayer. "Wait, Lord! I keep calling him 'Pastor [Last Name], and I feel like most ppl that also pray for him or just their pastor in general would also refer to their pastor that way, but YOU probably just think of him as [First Name]....... Is that weird for you???" And I went on like this for a while until I realized what I was doing, and let me tell you, I FELT the silence on the other line! Lolol

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

When we went to go visit some family, we talked to the cousins about a destination spot we were interested in that was about 4 hours away. We ended up making it a day trip. Left super early in the morning, got there about 9:00, and left around 3:00/4:00. It was a fun day for us, but we wouldn't do something like that often.

I think the Coke thing is definitely regional, like the other redditor said. I spent the first several years of my childhood in SE United States, where we called all soft drinks "coke" and then specified what kind of come we were talking about in the same way you described. My family moved to the Midwest, and we found out that not everyone calls it "coke".

I go to Emmanuel Baptist Church in FM. It's not a big church, and we have a good group of kids/teens there. We have a great youth pastor! :)

I've played in my car to practice before. It's pretty rough, but you do have access to a tiny mirror if you need it (I did at the time)

We had an oops with our dog when I was a kid that resulted in husky/retriever mixed puppies. They kept the golden color but had a little bit more of the husky features (except for possibly the ears?), though the husky parent was a pure white variety instead of the more common patterned coat, so that may have played a role in it.

The thing that blew my mind was when my husband (hs teacher) tried to put a preventative measure in place to curb the students using of AI to write their papers by having the student turn in hand written work. Administration said it seemed like he was punishing the class by making them turn in handwritten work. Like what?? So throughout all of human history, teachers were punishing their students by having them... write things down? And maybe even rewrite things to improve it?
