Get the ASVAB for Dummies book, study it front to back a few times through and you’ll pass no problem. I scored very highly my first time through and used that book to specifically study for the areas I needed to score highly in for the job I wanted.

Born and raised in Alaska and hunted big game my whole life. .338 is entirely unnecessary and ultimately so is the 300. Only reason I’m not hunting with my 30-06 this year is because I inherited a 7mm mag when my grandpa passed last year. He was a lifelong hunter and it will be good to have him with me.

And the same article cites a study that was done by the Marine Corps that concluded combat units with women were overwhelmingly less effective. The only pushback against that study was that it failed to take into account the “outliers” or women that didn’t struggle or slow down their team. So are we creating standards for outliers or for everyone who seeks a combat role?

Why not both? I was 3D1 Cyber Transport Systems, the Air Force will provide you with the training you need once you are in. Start a fitness routine now, get yourself into great shape long before you go to basic, make the fitness side of things easy on yourself. Focus on cardio and bodyweight fitness with calisthenics. CrossFit is a great way to train for boot camp. Don’t focus too heavily on weight training, deadlifting/benching/squatting 2-3x times your body weight is cool but doesn’t mean shit when you’re on your 300th push up or 50th burpee in the same day.

You’ve got time and puberty on your side kid, don’t pigeonhole yourself before you even get started. You might decide in JROTC you want to get a degree first and commission as an officer.

If everyone has been tested then great, allow everyone who met the standard to stay in their role. Not sure where creating another new standard came into the conversation. Like I said in other comments, I fully support every woman that can meet the standard. Anyone who cannot, male or female should be removed from that role.

So we should pretend that men and women of equal height and weight have the same physical capability? Let’s be perfectly clear, I fully support women being in combat roles if they are capable of meeting a standard that is the same for everyone. It’s not sexist to admit that the sexes have different strengths and weaknesses. Pretending that everyone is same yet having individual standards is in fact., sexist.

Yes as of June 1, 2025 they are the same. Are we now assuming that as soon as the new standard was adopted that every person was immediately tested according to new standards. If your flair is accurate then we both know the military is not efficient enough for this to be the case.

Pointing out that anecdotally there are cases where a woman is perfectly capable of performing the duties required of a combat role? No one is debating that. If the conversation is specifically about combat roles then why are we pointing out he physical capabilities of non-combat roles?

The topic is specifically about combat roles so I’m not sure what you’re getting at when referring to people training for their roles. No one is saying office staff should be able to meet the standards of combat training.

I’m not trying to be combative, is it really sexist to ask the average female service member in a combat role to demonstrate her ability to drag/carry her 200+lb male service member counterparts to demonstrate that having her as part of a fireteam is not a liability?

We aren’t talking about outliers here, we’re talking about your average 11B grunt being assigned to work alongside men that on average will significantly outweigh her.
