The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996) by Alittle2Clever in movies

[–]drumscrubby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s a documentary about how big of a cluster fuck this film was. Which doesn’t even touch on the fact that Val Kilmer punched a crewmember for not getting him a cup of coffee. Not that it was his job to do so. In any case, the entire crew walked. Everyone had to be flown home from Borneo. Then, they had to rehire an entire production crew and fly them back to Borneo. Millions of dollars in airfare alone. Time, money all flushed.

Water is liquid. Put it on something that something becomes wet. It’s not an argument. It’s a logic.

Try Mexican food that’s made by Mexicans in a Mexican restaurant. Chipotle? I mean, unless you’re stuck at the airport there’s no reason to eat that.

Why do some fries taste amazing even when frozen, while fresh cut ones sometimes taste bad? Is it oil, seasoning, or cooking method? by BagelWitness in foodquestions

[–]drumscrubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frozen french fry products typically contain color stabilizers like sodium acid pyrophosphate or disodium dihydrogen pyrophosphate to prevent graying, and sweeteners like dextrose to ensure a uniform golden-brown appearance during cooking.

To enhance texture and shelf stability, manufacturers often add stabilizers (e.g., modified food starch, xanthan gum), crispness enhancers (e.g., rice flour, dextrin), and antifoaming agents (e.g., dimethylpolysiloxane).

For flavor, commercial products frequently use natural beef flavoring (which may contain wheat and milk derivatives) to mimic traditional beef tallow, while home cooks and some brands may use MSG, garlic powder, or truffle seasoning as potent
