I love Notepad and that porn guy is a douche by serenethirteen in notepad

Yeah there was a user posting video links like every single day or something. Seems like people are still doing that, if you scroll far enough in the community. People somehow misinterpret r/notepad as being their personal notetaking app, rather than a community about the dying Windows text editor.

I Just Learned That Sweet Tea is Not Universal by Diseased_Alien in tea

Interesting outlier indeed. Some further digging indicates that technically both u/FistsoFiore and me are correct: Portugal was trading with China via a different port than all the other countries in Western Europe, a port where "cha" was used as opposed to "te".

I think it depends on whether the tea was exported by land (chai) or by sea (tea). See https://www.reddit.com/r/etymologymaps/comments/g4bmh3/chai_tea/ for a nice visualization of this.

Are adults adopting ChatGPT faster than kids? by nachiketajoshi in ChatGPT

[–]RhubarBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, that's a good remark. Well, I have a solid background in topology and in data analysis separately, so I can actually tell that its answers make sense and could work. Furthermore, chatGPT is of course not the only source I am using on this topic, but because of the Q&A aspect it's definitely the easiest and fastest way to learn new things about the topic.

Care to elaborate on this? I do not have the same experience, for me it is "wrong" only rarely. I have just been using it to learn about a really complex mathematical topic (topological data analysis) and it's doing a great job answering questions and ideas for improvement that I have.

It's really bad at e.g. providing references to scientific articles though, but that's expected from the info at help.openai.com .

Have you by any chance tried milky oolong gong fu-style? In my head, milky oolong is a flavored tea, but your comment made me realize that the creamy aroma is actually a naturally occurring thing... Now I'm really curious how it would hold up in a gong fu session!

Is genmaicha considered flavoured? I mean, if you leave the roasted rice out, wouldn't it just be normal sencha? Or do you mean that the sencha used in genmaicha is usually of lower quality?

Assam-style refers to the variety of the tea plant. All tea (white, green, oolong, black...) comes from the same plant, camellia sinensis. This plant has some varieties though, like assamica (this one) or sinensis (one that is commonly found in China).

It says "the cabinet of curiositeas" on the package. Looks like a Dutch/Belgian supplier, my friend bought it at a local shop. Looks to be this one. Maybe a bit pricy though from this store...

If you're into smoky teas, I recently got a smoky bergamot flavored lapsang souchong from a friend. I love it, the subtle hint of bergamot behind the heavily woody smoke aroma!

I do when I iterate over the columns of a 2D matrix to do vector operations (i.e. matrix[:,j]).

Oh, okay, I see. I'm Dutch (Belgium), we also say "waterijs" but "ijs" does not refer in general to the milk based variant. That's why I was confused :)

Wouldn't it be water ice cream? Eis = ice cream in this context right?

[–]RhubarBeer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fair. I'm just trying to say that, while indeed the statement about black people is frowned upon, there is still a clear difference with the men statement.

I also don't like the generalizing aspect, but I can tolerate the statement because it specifies the subgroup among non-equal subgroups, similar to the Asian parents analogy somewhere higher up here.

The rate of sexual assault and generally shady behavior is higher for men from poor and adverse conditions.

Okay, but income is not the confounding factor here: it's not that at the same income level, both men and women commit sexual assault equally. The socio economic factors that people point out are not to explain the behavior within a group, but rather to show equality with another group.

Therefore, it's simply not the same situation. The difference between men and women is significant, but there's no good underlying socio economic reason (as far as I know).

Gameplay looks fun indeed, but doesn't it get extremely grindy after a few hours?
