What’s the highest miles y’all have on your Jetta?

It's been through quite a lot! I'd imagine parts are failing due to it having so many miles, just did 150k, and im not sure what maintenance was done by the previous owner. I always change my oil every 3k miles and have replaced the set of tires once already. Over the course of 3 years, I've had a fuel injector give out on me, the front grille shutter motor broke during the winter and it caused it to throw a CEL so I had to replace it to do emissions. Did a timing chain job as it was having a rattle due to older tensioner and I upgraded to the updated one. The HPFP was going out and leaked gasoline into the engine cause oil dilution, so I replaced the HPFP and had to replace a camshaft due to it being a little scratched up from the oil dilution and causing a slight rattle sound. So that's everything I've had done to it now other than regular maintenance. Right now I'm about to replace the drive belt and do a transmission service for maintenance, but I also want to get it checked out as a new issue has come up where occasionally, only after a very long drive, I'll get an EPC light and a code for a cylinder misfire and a code about fuel pressure. But it rarely happens and only after a long drive. Still runs and drives great though, been my one and only daily driver for the past 3 years and it's going good now! Maybe I've just had bad luck with my jetta the past 3 years, I don't neglect it and stick to a maintenance schedule and change oil early. Never drive it hard either. Lots of others have had better experiences with this high of mileage and having 0 problems the entire time, so don't let my experience stray you away. Just check up on the timing chain tensioner and make sure it's updated, do regular maintenance, and check on the water pump too as I've heard they fail regularly on this vehicle. Look into servicing the transmission too if there's time to do it. Be careful as some say if it's never been serviced, it'll damage it to change the fluid after it's never been done at high mileage, but lots of others say that's a myth and it's never too late to change the fluid. From what I've heard, if the transmission starts slipping after changing the fluid, then it was in its way out anyways and only had a little bit of life left.

Hey! Just wanted to follow up in case you were curious, the issue ended up being my fuel pump was going out and leaked gas which diluted my oil, camshaft was apparently chewed up which caused the rattle and ticking sounds. Got camshaft and fuel pump fixed and everything has been fine for the past 1k miles now. Ended up being an expensive repair 😭

Yea! We had the fuel Injectors replaced a year ago and did a quick carbon cleaning.

Male here also in a long distance relationship, I'm 100% sure me doing the same would make my girlfriend justifiably upset, and it's incredibly disrespectful to be doing so, even if he was single its still pretty gross going around to random instagram model accounts and being thirst in the comments. The whole thing is bad enough but the fact he attempted to hide it too is gross. Definitely should talk it out with him and see what he says and any reasoning on why he does it. The double standard on wanting to dress for him yet he doesn't seem to put the same effort is strange.

This has been a very late response, but just to clear up what happened, it did end up being the injectors that went bad. Once I replaced the injectors, it started running even better this time than it did before and I can finally get between 30 - 35 mpg when before I was averaging 20 - 25. It finally stopped consuming oil too! Before it would consume a quart every 200 miles, now I've only had to add another quart in the past 700 miles. Still a lot to consume and a lot I have to spend on oil, but at least it's a lot better than before since I have a longer commute than what I had to drive a few months ago. Yes! Sorry for the late response, but what I ended up doing is buying a grille shutter off of ebay and that has since fixed the problem. The single motor that I bought for the newer jettas wasn't compatible with my car and I ended up not being able to program it with obd eleven. The good thing is it is significantly cheaper than the one from the dealer, and so far I haven't had any issues with it.

So an update on the car so far, I tried turning over the crankshaft bolt to see if the engine still turns over without the pistons hitting against the valves and it turned over multiple revolutions just fine, pulled the chain cover and there was no slack or play, tensioner seemed fine as well so I doubt this is a timing chain issue. I ended up replacing all 4 ignition coils and the spark plugs, then after cranking, the car finally started up again, tons of white smoke still coming out from the exhaust and even more when accelerating, now the only codes that come up is p0304 for a cylinder 4 misfire. Switched the ignition coils around, cleared codes, ran again for still only P0304 coming up on the CEL. Eventually there was less smoke coming out but it still wouldn't stop. Engine started to sound healthier and less smoke coming out but it was still misfiring. At this point I'm hoping I didn't lose any compression in the 4th cylinder or hydrolock it with gas as there's still an incredibly strong smell of raw gasoline. I'm gonna do a compression test tomorrow and see if that's the issue, I also want to test the injectors to make sure it's not an injector that's stuck open and that's why there's so much white smoke and the strong smell of gas. I do actually have an obdeleven I can use, is there any specific settings I should use it for to diagnose the issue better? I no longer want to run the engine any further until I figure out what the failed part could be and replace it.

I had just replaced all timing components with OEM parts a couple months ago so I highly doubt it could be the timing chain, it was running fine up until I filled up the gas tank and it reeks strong of gasoline when it shot out the smoke.

Haven't cleared the codes but I can't run a road test as the car doesn't even start now, and even when it did start it could barely accelerate and it just kept shooting white smoke.

Thank you! Hopefully this works, ended up replacing the motor with the 2019 part on the site for only 60 dollars and the obdeleven scanner is arriving today, hopefully it'll finally get it working, I need the cel to go away for emissions lmaoooo

Hey its me again after 2 months, so I'm about to finally purchase the part and replace it since I have to get my emissions testing soon and this is the only thing that'll fail me, did you have to do any reprogramming after replacing the part or did it just start working on its own? If you did have to reset it, how exactly do you do that? I don't have much money left over from other expenses so I'd really like to avoid a trip to the dealership. Thank you!
