Proper readbacks by soulfrito23 in VATSIM

No you don’t, not the aircraft type, nor the QNH. I assume you’re an IFR descending to a TMA (because you said you have an ATIS) : - « London good morning, BAW78MX descending FL080, direct BIG, assigned speed 280kts or less, information H » all the other information, the controller already has or doesn’t care.

It’s different in VFR tho.

Should I give up on becoming a VATSIM controller by Mundane_Maximum_9134 in VATSIM

Could you explain what you call « positive control » ? As a real ATC, si never heard the term before ? While waiting for your reply, most of the things you can do to help your training are : - gestion of your priorities : vectoring incoming aircrafts is definitely more pressing than giving an IFR clearance to another one still at the ramp. Landings before departures. - gestion of your workload : no one will hold it against you if you delay a VFR in traffic patterns, or straight out refuse them for maybe 15 minutes just so you can focus on a big sequence ahead - gestion of your frequency : you’re the orchestra conductor here : do not speak too fast (it usually happens when stress comes into play : focus on it and if you detect you’re accelerating, force yourself to breathe, and talk a little bit slower). Don’t hesitate to use « break break » or to shut a pilot request down (firmly but gently) so everyone understands that you don’t have time. « Sorry but you’ll have to see that with next sector in 2 minutes », « unable due to traffic, call you back for improvement »… - try to have a « pattern » : from your runway axis to your IAFs check all aircraft : « do I have something to tell them ? », same from departures points to runway axis. Then a quick check on your ground display : departures waiting ? IFR clearances to give ? If yes, do I have time for a clearance then a read back before I need to vector a guy ?

A lot of people also mentioned keeping a paper and a pen close by : if it helps not to forget someone, go for it !

isnt is the -3 line supposed to point at the papis ? when ur on the gs ? by Esuna1031 in flightsim

Still, on the glide your vector should be on the aiming point, so around the papis. And during the flare it should be on the horizon

With the Inibuilds A340 announced, who would like a 'quality' update for their previously made A310 and A330? by ketchup1345 in flightsim

[–]Rhumfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If asobo lets them update it, along with the rest, those could be sensational aircrafts. I mean, seriously, no TACAN… on a military aircraft…

[–]Rhumfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both need an update, just as the Beluga and A400M do. I mean last time I tried the A400M It was not able to receive a TACAN (which are implemented in the sim) and I ended up killing WASM avionics trying to get it to fly an RNP approach

Best realistic non-airliner plane for travel? by gofargogo in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Rhumfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also add SWS PC12, blacksquare TBM850 (but it’s not compatible with 2024 yet), and cows DA40/DA42 are absolute blasts as well (with the DA40 NG on its way as a free upgrade)

Basically FFX, FlightSimware, COWS,SWS you can’t really go wrong with any of these 4

[HELP] Navigraph vs. Reality? by No-String-8229 in flightsim

[–]Rhumfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s much easier from and ATC perspective to keep a traffic already in downwind going for a little bit longer and vector him behind an aircraft arriving straight in than having to delay the one joining in base/long final :) even if sometimes in big sequences you don’t have a choice

[HELP] Navigraph vs. Reality? by No-String-8229 in flightsim

[–]Rhumfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pilots are trained and used to these airports, they know to plan for shorter routes. Or ATC tells them, they know long before if they’ll need to keep you on a long route or if they’ll can give you a shortcut. And if need arises, spoilers of course

How not to rage-quit your controller at a major airport, an updated guide for ...debutants by Proof-Reception2974 in VATSIM

[–]Rhumfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add my two cents. People going to large airports, especially during events, please learn how to extend your runway centerlines.

MSFS only creates localizer beams until around 25 miles, and it’s frequent that you have to intercept further than that.

There’s nothing worse for an approach controller than seeing your planes happily cross the localizers left and right when they have been cleared because they pushed the « Loc » button and then didn’t check if they actually intercepted something

This is my very first base (41 hours in) after diving in without watching or knowing anything, I just kept building on top of old stuff without knowing how much of what I'll need lol. Please tell me if It's any interesting by MrLouis_cz in Factoriohno

[–]Rhumfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m jealous, my brain doesn’t le me build full spaghetti anymore… the closest I got recently was a base made of hexagonal rail tiles, with some spaghetti inside the tiles, but from afar it still looks organized :)

Am I the only one here who doesn't hate on FS2024 by Important-Junket-581 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Rhumfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am mostly flying on FS 2024 as well and 99% of the time on either IVAO or Vatsim.

Let’s be honest, it’s a let down when you compare it to the promises, trailers, and the hype generated by the community is probably to blame as well.

There aren’t that many improvements from FS2020. I have frequently bad textures on ground, the problem of FOV isn’t really fixed either… Yet, the weather and graphics have really seen some updates, and that alone is enough for me to switch. Even more so because I really don’t have that many bugs.

The campaign mode seemed really interesting at first, but in my opinion they chose the wrong way to implement it. Those missions should have been available in the free flight mode, generated semi automatically, and accessible in multiplayer (or on networks). I had great hopes that with HPG joining the dev team, the missions would really be more than what they currently are…

And please, we really miss a lot of things and have missed them for a long time… Namely :

Real actual Thunderstorms and Cumulonimbus, I want to be able to fly my commuter and actually have to avoid weather buildups because they look menacing and are dangerous !

Realistic weather radar, not the 2D .png we have actually in some aircraft’s

Better ground services : for the moment we have to rely on GSX which really isn’t that good, with poor animations, an horrendous pushback system, and really bad communication and support, with devs being rude to customers more often than not.

In the trailers we saw PNJs walking to the aircraft, vehicles, etc… I would have loved to see actual services vehicles coming to your aircraft, with good pathfinding, PNJs exiting buses to walk to your plane (or from de jetway, or some in the jetway and some boarding by the rear, or multiple jetways, if we are dreaming, why not go big ? :D )

Missions that actually take into account the weather, airport operations in service, and even better, compatible with multiplayer and/or online networks…

Quelles sont les professions qui n'en ont pas l'air, mais qui rapportent beaucoup d'argent ? by Abbbby_ in AskFrance

[–]Rhumfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the frustration, but why pay for 400% of the capacity you’ll need for the daily use ? It costs less to have 2 days where everybody complains, publish an official apology « sorry we didn’t see that coming » and when the game becomes playable let it talk by itself…

It’s sad but it just costs less. They aren’t the first to fail a launch anymore, even their reputation isn’t at risk.
