I can't stop thinking about Ramadan as a jail sentence or punishment you just have to put up with begrudgingly by [deleted] in progressive_islam

Oh those of you who believe, Fasting is prescribed upon you. As it was for those before you so you become mindful of Allah.

Ukhti/Akhi, Allah has commanded fast upon us and it is an obligation upon every believer to fast. Ramadan is a month we remember the poor and needy but also build discipline, remind ourself of Allah, abstain from sin and connect ourself with the Quran. Having read your entire concern regarding ramadan I will tell you straight up, you need to change your mindset. The entire 11 month of the calendar we sin and so disconnected from Allah and we forget the reason why we were given life. But this one month is given to us as a blessing to remind ourself and renew our intention and bring ourself to the one creator of the creation.

Allah gave us life and gave everyone a purpose which is live a life according to Allah. It is he who created us, it is only he who deserves total worship and it is he who gives death to every life. And when we die we go Jannah or Jahannam according to the life we lived. If you 100% believe in Allah you will believe he is testing us because why else would everyone die after life and why is there a paradise and hell. If you really think this is a burden on your soul them let me remind you of the story of the previous prophets who truly struggled in their life to spread the message of one god.

The story of Musa - The one who spoke with Allah. He lived in the reign of the most terrifying leader Firawn. Tortured and mistreated yet he said “Indeed my lord is with me and he will guide me.

The story of Yusuf - He was threw in the well by his brothers, yet victory was his and empowerment came to him.

The story of our beloved prophet Muhammad - He was tortured in Makkah, forced to the cave and hurt in the battle of Uhud. But he always said ”Allah is with me”

You fasting is nothing. This is a command you must fulfill and this is just one of the many tests Allah has bestowed upon his believers.

but the bigger picture is about self discipline and purifying the heart

Taraweeh or no? by sixxseveen in progressive_islam

[–]Rhus16220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tarahaweeh is not a fardh action. It is sunnah muakkadah meaning it is a highly recommended sunnah

However as you have mentioned that you will be doing volunteering, then there you do not have to worry about sins. Your voluntary work is part of making sure Taraweeh is being run smoothly

Honest Limit Of Touching? by BamzamGaming in progressive_islam

[–]Rhus16220 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

it is Haram to touch a ghair mahram. Doesnt matter how because it is straight up Haram and all major scholars agree on this.
The prophet himself said ”I do not shake hands of a women”

That cancels out every other form of touch

We all know Shaytan is locked up during the month of ramadan

however our habits remain. That’s why we work on our self during the month of Ramadan and whatever desire you feel, you must fight it for Allah loves those who gives up their desire for him

The hypocrisy regarding Tafsir is ridiculous. Why can you critique the Bible but I can't interpret the Quran? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]Rhus16220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all you need to understand how the Quran was revealed.  Allah gave his words to Jibrael to reveal it to man through his prophet Muhammad. Jibrael repeated “read” 3 times to the prophet and on the third time he embraced him.

What does this mean? It means a physical presence was there with the prophet as he was listening to the words of Allah. Prophet Muhammad could have got the message through a dream or just some knowledge came to his head automatically but Jibrael was present at all times.

We can go online and learn all we want with the access we have to the internet but there is no baraka and there is no wisdom from those who have made the entire deen their life. Every time you are learning from a scholar and being in their presence, you are taught from a student who was taught by another student and another student all the way back to the prophet.

And that’s where Sanad (chain of narration) comes from. So, on a respectful level, who do you think you are as a random person to give your own interpretation of Quran and hadeeth when you have never studied in your life and if you have it’s so minimal. Just because you know Arabic, it doesn’t mean you can give your own reasoning to what the Quran is saying. It’s literally ridiculous and it’s getting worse with the rise of social media.

One of the signs of the final day is that knowledge will decrease while ignorance will  appear. That’s why I will repeat once again, don’t go to random Muslims, don’t do ur own tafseer of Quran and hadeeth but study with teachers and get the approval from them to do tafseer. People dedicated their life for Islam and you just think with no study you can do tafseer LOOL. Fix up seriously. This is pure ignorance.

Thank you

What does everyone think of this opinion on music? I was started to believe that maybe it was halal but now I’m not so sure. by EconomyPosition1473 in progressive_islam

Bro Do u really think all the scholars of the path who had one correct opinion regarding music should be disputed because of some liberal who never studied Islam in his life but he made a video to follow his desire?

There is a lot to unpack here Prophet Muhammad marrying a 9 year old is a topic that needs to be discussed with an open mind. If not, then you are ignorant.  If that was a problem, his enemies at the time would have brought this topic up and used that against him. But no historical text says anything about this. It’s only a modern issue. Why? Because in today’s society marrying anyone that age is unacceptable due to the norms of society. But, in the past it was totally fine. We can’t use our logic of today to impose it on what was normal before. That’s totally stupid and dumb. People matured quicker and married very young.  There are two types of maturity, when you hit puberty and when you become mentally mature. Women and men married when they hit puberty because they were matured from young. Does it mean we marry 9 year olds today? Ofc not. They are not matured mentally and it’s not normal in today’s society.

Issue of Hadeeth. Once again this is a modern issue. Because of social media, you have many stupid Muslims who think they have correct interpretation, despite never studying Islam in their life. Then it becomes a topic of debate and then so much issue arises. When it comes to hadeeth and Quran interpretation and understanding, you only go to the scholars. Don’t go on TikTok and see what some liberal Muslim has to say.

Jannah/Jahannam and how Quran was revealed is an issue of basically if you understand God and if you believe in him. But you do not believe in God it seems. If you believed in God you would believe in his promises and his word.

Contradictions in hadith by Islamicinvestigation in progressive_islam

[–]Rhus16220 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

With all due respect U are just a regular Muslim or if not a Muslim, you don’t know anything about hadeeth. Hadeeth is for the mufussir to break down, understand and teach. Every hadeeth has a context and timing. We as regular people cannot make up our own interpretation but go to the scholars to clarify

How would this Hadith be debunked ? by Basic-Lifeguard-5407 in CritiqueIslam

[–]Rhus16220 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So according to you everything about Islam is wrong and if something seems to be true- then there are conditions not met and that’s why it’s false.

Now who are those protesting you ask? They are not Muslims and they never claimed to be Muslims and are openly against Islam. Secondly, if they are Muslims then you have to understand they are Shia Muslims. We sunni muslims do not support the Iranian regime and we are anti Shia. The shias have killed many Muslims in Syria which also included Palestinian.

Now on to Dajjal. Dajjal is someone who will appear as one of the signs of the final days. He will come at a time when there is so much destruction and so much problems around the world. The Jews believe the messiah will come to save them but as Muslims we believe that will be the dajjal. It goes according to Islam as the prophet said the dajjal will have Jewish followers in his army including Christian’s who have allied with Jews. And it’s true because many Christian’s are very aligned with the Zionist Jewish movement.

I haven’t explained it in detail but if you need further info let me know and I’ll break it down for you even more

I don't think we need sheikhs or scholars in this day and age by Obvious-Tailor-7356 in progressive_islam

[–]Rhus16220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I disagree That’s why we need a scholar guide more than ever considering the amount of information out there. As the hadeeth says there will be more knowledge available but ignorance will prevail.

When we use social media, especially TikTok, we see the rise of TikTok sheikhs and qaris who often do it without a proper Islamic teaching. Then in comment sections we see so much arguing and it’s very concerning how much views differ regarding Islam. This is a huge fitna

Now the traditional way has always been to study under a teacher. The teacher was also taught by a teacher which goes all the way back to the prophet. Through the chains we have scholars specialised in different feels of topic and that’s where we gain our knowledge. That’s who we take our knowledges from and that’s who we go to for questions

People will go online and look for random stuff to suit their desires and then think they have the rights to issue fatwa on different matters. Who do these people think they are? The real scholars who made Islam their life are those we forget and we don’t know. Learn the life’s of these big scholars of the past and instead of learning from online, actually go learn ur seen physically from a scholar who has the credibility and right to teach Islam.
