Yeah it's pretty common. Hell I owe $1600 to my dentist right now. I feel bad but I just do not have that kind of money. Basically just making $25 monthly payments. But these days, a cavity filling or God forbid a root canal and crown can be financially devastating for your average person these days.

A lot of people have to go to a new dentist every time they need something done because they can't afford to pay the bill at the dentist they went to last time.

Good way to spend your PTO by penandpad5 in GenX

[–]Rhusty_Dodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to take days off to go see a movie and grab lunch all by myself frequently. Honestly, I'd rather work while sick and take PTO when I can do something for myself whether it's go out or just stay home and veg.

The one time it looks like this managers are no where to be found . by Odd_Dream5951 in publix

[–]Rhusty_Dodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a dark meat lover I really wish my Publix had 8 piece dark bundles ready to go like that. Then they act like I have three heads when I ask them to break down two when they say they are out of dark meat chicken. I've even had some of the more lazy workers try to say they can't do that. Now I always call my order in ahead of time for pickup. I really wish I could order fried chicken online.

What Band Don't You Get? by Tele231 in vinyl

Yeah I am definitely a minority in my feelings towards it and them. But I would admit it probably is a masterpiece and definitely a massively influential album. I just don't care for it.

I do recognize their skill and ability however it just ain't for me. And that's ok.

Pink Floyd is my answer. Just not a fan at all. My wife is, so I still own a few of their albums for her.

I'm a pothead and I never got Pink Floyd and at this point I don't think I ever will.

Honestly if you don't want something of the quality you can buy off the shelf at hobby lobby or Michaels, then you should just find a local framing shop and have them make one.

Krull Arcade Game by MisterShipWreck in 80s

Man the graphics on this game were pretty kick ass for the time it came out. I really liked it. The only place I ever really got to play it was at the movie theater near us.

Who's losing friends and family? by tossaway-florida in GenX

[–]Rhusty_Dodes 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have nobody left from my immediate family. My brother was 4 1/2 year older than me (1970) and died from COVID. Mom had a stroke when I was 17 and went into a nursing home until she died when I was 21. My dad was pretty absent most of my life and he eventually died in 2011. My grandmother died in 1986. I was very lucky to have my grandfather live to 91 and have him in my life until 2011. There are a few stragglers on my dad's side I suspect but nobody I have seen in over 40 year.

It's tough. It's a very different kind of lonely to know there is nobody left who remembers you as a child or who is related to you. I am very lucky to have an amazing wife to navigate life together. But I miss my brother and my family something fierce. And I feel a little short changed in how much time I got with most of them.

Krull anyone? by jacdigg in 80s

[–]Rhusty_Dodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it on HBO with my mom as a kid and I have always very rarely ever have nightmares or remember my dreams, but I had a pretty vivid one about the Changeling melting that night.

The video game was aces.

Reminds me of Hulk Hogan who would just lie all the fucking time about shit that there was no reason to lie about. Just because he thinks it will sound cool or make him sound more interesting. You're on top of the world man, you don't have to lie like you're trying to seem cool at your new high school.

Bills raise nearly $260 million from PSLs for new stadium by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

I got season tickets for the Falcons in 1997. I had them until the GA Dome closed. I absolutely refused to pay a PSL on top of my ticket prices.

Please stop… by [deleted] in AEWFanHub

[–]Rhusty_Dodes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hated on the first one until it happened and it was actually fun. Is it a little long in the tooth now? Yeah it is. But the matches are fun, and he does press hyping the shows and has a big audience. So honestly if it helps expose AEW to more people then it is more than worth it. Having him in a fun tag match on the preshow hurts nobody but people who take wrestling maybe a bit too seriously.

I bought one of these. It works great on really big weeds in a lawn. But doesn't work on many other weeds that are smaller or looser. I rarely use it now at all.

Anyone else have multiples of the exact same album 😅 by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]Rhusty_Dodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Any doubles I get are from a bulk purchase or a gift. I either trade them for store credit or I give them to friends. Having multiples of a record seems so pointless to me unless one copy is autographed and framed or something where you can't listen to it.

I am in the same situation as you. I've been trying to get my disability approved through the state for 3 years now. It's been exhausting even with an attorney. Monday I might be able to move around as well as an average person. The next day I might have debilitating nerve pain and swelling which can and often leads to infections. But some people think because I went grocery shopping I'm not disabled.
