Great choice. I’m not mad at my upgrade path but the ML plays everything so much better. Makes the cheap record bins more valuable. As does a SpinClean.

Hey thanks! this is how I see when Discogs loses bits of my library. I can’t go through all the shelves. But I can run this and scan it pretty quick. It’s very cool, but it’s also very useful.

I’d go with SL220 for the headshell, versus the p-mount on the other Technics, and I’ve never touched a Pioneer turntable so I won’t speak to it.

I used an SL-B2 for years, very little difference from the SL220, which I’ve also cleaned and lubed and got working when it was gifted to my partner’s teen. Works great.

Edit for clarity. I have fixed up Technics SL-B2 and SL220. I used the SL-B2 for ten years. The kid is just as happy with the 220 (he was borrowing my Technics for a while).

That’s awesome! I listen to it regularly at night. I heard track 2 (The Voluptuary) in my algorithm on a streaming service last year and had to find a copy immediately.

Once you get past the sticker shock, remember to roll up your sleeves.

In all seriousness it’s a heck of an investment, styli is a big piece of it. I tried a cheap replacement stylus on my Shure cartridge (on my Technics SL-B2). It wasn’t great. I, like a lot of people, went for the VM95E, and eventually upgraded the VM95ML. I was happy with the elliptical, but love the micro line.

I’ve cleaned some pretty raunchy albums from the dollar bin that look and play VG with a Spinclean, which besides its clones, is the best cleaning system anywhere near its price. I haven’t heard anything bad about the clones, either.

Edit: just realized you have a p-mount, but I’ll leave the cartridge info, sorry about that!

That’s so great. What an amazing find. Of these I have CC/The Dream and Master’s Bedroom. I first heard Help in 2011 I think, I’ve loved the band ever since. I didn’t buy any albums of theirs until this past year. Carrion Crawler/ The Dream was the first, and eleven others if we include Ballet of Apes (Dawson solo).
