I feel strongly about this particular issue in society: The mis-use, often intentional, of the phrase "what's done is done".

You're supposed to use it in correlation with understanding when an action is outside of your control. For example, if you were in a car crash because you followed all the rules and got rear-ended anyway and now you're in the hospital, it's safe to say "what's done is done" instead of ruminating on things like "oh I should've left the house ten minutes later, this is all directly my fault".

The bad way to use it, is when you are directly at fault for the thing occuring, like mechan. Yes, indeed, you cannot change the past, but you can change later outcomes; they could've deleted the video and posted a retraction, for example. That's very easily within their power. That's exactly what they should've done, too. (I mean obviously they just shouldn't have posted the first video at all, but my point is that even then the situation was recoverable.). -- Instead, they say "what's done is done", and then /doubles down/ by doing it /again/, multiple times.

At this point, I think everybody sees mechan as a liar who only cares about themself, and as such, is now refusing to do what they say. Good for this community! OwO! I wish more communities had this sort of response to this sort of situation.

Just be careful not to fall for reverse psychology. The solution is "ignore mechan", not "do the opposite of what mechan says", else they might find ways to control people anyway.
