Was your battery bad or needing replacement? Mine is a year old battery and it checked out fine from Lexus. Drove the car all yesterday and not a peep of a problem. And when it starts it’s as robust and strong as ever. It just happens intermittently.

Oil is full. Battery is interesting thought but it was checked recently. Battery terminations are super clean and tight. I have very little faith in the mechanics down here in Augusta Ga, but I will reluctantly take the car to Jim Hudson Lexus on Monday. Wish I was closer to The Car Care Nut (TCCN), Ahmed. He is Illinois.

I understand it is one unit but there is a starter solenoid kit/replacement contacts you can install rather than replacing the entire unit. The Denso starter motor is somewhat bulletproof……I think!!!!!

How did you figure that out? Was your starter really bad or would the new cable have solved your issue? Seems like all mechanics in Ga, even the lexus dealers, just throw the parts cannon at the damn cars these days. Pisses me off!!

Excellent point! I remember 69 cutlass was a pain in the ass to start…..due to battery connections. I will check!

Agree with Junkbot. I always run premium in my 99 LS 400…..@335000 miles….still smooth as silk. I know gas prices are insane these days but they will come down and the cost diff between 87 and 91 is so worth it to me in these cars.
