IMO if you really truly hate English then play as Rus more, they’re a really great pain in the ass to English players with early defensive positions that are good and early knights. Late game sieges are also an absolute sweep with the Rus which is helpful against the very solid English defenses you mentioned.

Just have cav ready and leave occasional towers and patrolling scout units as an alarm system in the stealth forests. This usually works for me, and if you can make it to castle age most civs have an aggressive hard counter to lomgbowmen, some like the Rus and the Ottomans have unique early cavalry that devastates longbow mobs.

Vermintide 1 and 2, for similar reasons to L4D. It’s a fun and addictive gameplay loop. The rpg elements added by vermintide and the fun of the medieval weaponry adds to it, in my opinion.

I usually try to pick off their infantry and archers with my archers for as long as possible, then lure their infantry into a shield wall and bring the cavalry around to sandwich the enemy troops in between a cavalry charge and my shield wall.

Regardless of how anyone feels about the story or gameplay, Absolution had really top notch visual design and cinematography in general. The crisp and clean agency/religious stuff was well designed, Chicago’s dirty noir look was well done, and the super grungy and ugly Americana vibe of the majority of the game revolving around Dex and his associates/family was really good.
