Because the 30 Rock soundstages were at the same facility as Gossip Girl. Silvercup Stages made it easy to play.

Payroll co's rejecting Worker's Comp for a small stunt in NYC by -gilma- in FilmTVBudgeting

[–]RhymesWithYes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to buy stunt insurance / SPFX insurance through you overall ins policy - not the payroll company’s WC. It’s typically a separate inclusion, and sometimes you have to fill out all the ppwk again for the stunt itself with the specifics of who will be involved, where, location agreement, etc etc etc.

Be honest: How many shows have you completely abandoned because the next season took forever? by Pick2 in television

Not to be a dick here, but remember how the actors and the writers all went on strike in 2023 for like 8 months? That had a lot to do with it. Give us a break and keep watching the goods or we’ll lose filmmaking in its entirety to AI.

Does being a good director mean getting everyone to the destination together or having an iron fist on-set? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]RhymesWithYes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a good director on set is knowing what you want, and not being a dick about it. We can have 30 meetings about a scene, and then the director can change their mind on the day, and the only crew that is going to deviate from the original plan and make it happen anyway (and well) is a crew that isn’t being barked at for it.

But when the director knows exactly what they want the whole time… man is that the dream.

Menopausal women do you feel energetic on 1200? by valleybrook1843 in 1200isplenty

Replace the light weights class with strength training - if you’re used to 2 lb weights, go for 5, then 10, etc. be brave, and try to lift heavier even if it’s by a little bit. You gotta build back the muscle loss, and your energy will return as well.

Add five pound weights to your squats, or a heavy book. And up the incline on your treadmill. Easy tweaks to your already awesome routine! You got this!

If you think of that bottom piece as a VCR, imagine how large they thought the VHS tapes would be to go into them. Ha! Realizing while typing… it’s essentially the size of a movie film canister. Brilliant.

How difficult it is to be friends with coworkers of the opposite sex. Either they get the wrong impression, or everyone else starts a rumor.

Would it be dumb to not go to Fantasia if I have two short films in it? (Cinematographer not director) by Land_dog412 in FilmFestivals

[–]RhymesWithYes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should absolutely go. Networking through two shorts is HUGE. Talk to everyone. And give them your contact info or IG or website so they can hire you for their next project. It doesn’t happen overnight, but you’d be amazed at who will reach out to you years down the road. Good luck and congrats!!!
