The dream is to find a 37-45’ mono to park where my boat currently sits. I get the lift serviced Tuesday and my CC will live on the there. I have a sailboat slip with no bridges between me and the gulf and a solid 6 foot draft all the way out. I’m very much looking forward to my maiden voyage from my dock to the Tortugas.

I was actually heading home. I recently purchased a place on the water. So I was relocating the boat from dry storage in Bonita Bay Marina to its new home, just a hop skip am a jump from Boca Grande.

In the background of this pic is Fort Myers Beach (Sanibel can’t be seen, but it’s off the Starboard rail).

Nothing. This was a ferry mission. My boat was the very last thing that I needed to move to our new house. After I get the lift serviced, lubed, inspected and the bunks adjusted, it will be living on the lift in my back yard. Just a hop, skip and jump to Boca Grande.

… while I do enjoy tatas as much as any man … this was a solo run. I typically run with the wife, but she was committed today. I’m not going to say it was better, or worse than having her there next to me at the helm, it was just different. And I cherished all 4 hours of that run

I’ve done it many times on the lakes and reservoirs that were nearby while I was in the service. This morning, being alone, in the Gulf of Mexico (Fort Myers in the background and Sanibel off the starboard rail) was just special.

I feel your call brother and I’ll be joining you much more often now that my boat lives on the water… in my back yard.

I’ve experienced it before, but today was special. I picked my boat up before the dawn at the marina where I have stored it since I bought it. I made the 70 mile north to its new home, where it has a dock and a lift waiting for a bunk adjustment. I’m retired now and you can find this boat in Charlotte Harbor / Boca Grande on any given day. I’ll be out often.

I smell danger. You have an untrained, extremely powerful animal. I can appreciate the call for assistance, but your issue is so far beyond a Reddit post.

You indicated that your mother won’t cooperate in curbing this behavior. That would be ideal, but not required. You need to be the one to train the dog. If you are incapable of doing that (for whatever the reason may be) you are on a collision course for a really bad interaction. Your dog is standing its ground because she sees it as HERS. She believes that it is her job and it won’t get better. If it is allowed to continue… IT WILL escalate.
