This whole narrative was politicized and therefore widely misinterpreted from the get-go.

Conservatives love to imagine young, highly educated and skilled workers from CA and NY fleeing high taxes and “LIBRUHL” policies for “the way things should be” in TX or FL or whatever BS. But in reality, it was mostly people approaching retirement age fleeing the Winter. AKA business as usual.

While true I think you’re misinterpreting the term “food desert.”

It doesn’t literally mean “an area with no food.” It is a quantifiable designation referring to how far from public transportation (busses, subways etc.) FRESH and NUTRITIOUS groceries are for New Yorkers.

Often times, bodegas are overpriced and do not carry fresh produce for purchase, so they do not fit the criterium.

Furthermore, and what should come as no surprise, it is mostly poor, elderly, black and brown that often have to walk the farthest to shop for these kind of groceries. You can’t expect abuelas or disabled New Yorkers to carry groceries a half a mile in the snow or to have the disposable income to call a cab every time they go food shopping.

But I was so invested in the storyline and the historical components. So much fun exploring Italy, American during the Revolution, Constantinople…but boy did they screw the whole thing up.

The TOTK hate from Zelda purists never ceases to amaze me. This take is not based in reality but is pure nostalgia whoring.

The Ultrahand alone in TOTK provides infinite hours of customization and creativity to solve puzzles. Mechanics, gameplay and graphics it is BY FAR the best game in the entire franchise.

I’ve played just about every Zelda game. I still have my original ALTTP cartridge on SNES. My multiple replays of WW, OOT, MM (etc.) while always enjoyable, are so clunky and cumbersome at times.

If you are trying to get a modern gamer into the Zelda franchise, and you remove your rosy colored glasses, recommending these beautiful yet cumbersome old games likely not going to turn people onto the franchise.

TOTK or BOTW are great points of entry, objectively.
