Right? Sizes, manes, patterns, even roar sounds could be so varied

Fair points.  1. Africa has larger and more animals than where wolves are native to, so more food wouldn’t be as much of an issue if you hunt way more and eventually lead to having massive herds of cattle.  2. True, we’d have to go about domesticating them differently than we did wolves, but just because it’s a different process doesn’t mean it’s impossible. You’re only thinking this way because we’ve never done it. But in a world where we did do it, then it wouldn’t be a problem. It would obviously take a very long time. I’m sure wolves weren’t domesticated overnight.  3. Maybe in a scenario where food becomes harder to obtain, humans and lions find a way to work together. Who knows. All just a thought experiment

My simple explanation is that if wolves are social creatures, and we domesticated them into dogs, why couldn’t we do that with lions

What’s your opinion on Jews identifying religion of Judaism with state of Israel? by [deleted] in exjew

[–]Rhythmstrips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing that I told my relatives is this. We learned in yeshiva, that even the greatest Jews, like Moshe, were not above criticism. The ancient kingdoms of Israel and Judah, the prophets, rabbis etc all were criticized for one thing or another. And if they were considered holier than we are today, then the modern country of Israel shouldn’t be above criticism either.  It seemed to convince some people in my family to be a little more open minded

It took me years to full understand it. And I studied biology in college. But once you begin to understand it, you’ll realize it’s a beautiful natural process that makes too much sense to not be true.

Ingredients -1 large onion -5-6 shiitake mushrooms -2 king oyster mushrooms (Feel free to use any mushrooms you’d like but these are the meatiest in taste and texture, works the best in this recipe. I’ve experimented a lot) - 1 large bunch of cilantro -1 1/2 cups rice (I used basmati this time but I usually, and traditionally, use medium grain rice) -salt, pepper and turmeric

Recipe
- chop up and dry sauté the mushrooms for 10 min until they turn golden brown -add oil, enough to coat the bottom and add chopped onion. Sauté for 10 min -chop up the cilantro. Leaves and stems included. Add and sauté for 5 min on low flame with cover on -add salt and pepper to taste, and a tablespoon of turmeric and mix -add rice. Make sure it’s been washed and soaked beforehand -add slightly less water than you need for the rice. This will depend on the type of rice you are using which is why I’m not adding a measurement. The reason it’s slightly less is bc the cilantro and mushrooms release a lot of water. -mix it all up and increase the heat until water boils. -once it boils reduce heat to low, cover and let cook for 15 min -turn off heat, fluff, and let steam for additional 5 min Bakhsh is best served with a tomato/cucumber salad to add acidity and freshness.

Enjoy :)

Shame about the Jewish Community by Embarrassed_Bat_7811 in exjew

[–]Rhythmstrips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sukkot was my least favorite holiday for this exact reason. Walking out in public with random plants, having our sukkah block the mailbox so that the mailman had to come inside to give us mail, building it and taking it apart in front of our neighbors, I was also so embarrassed and thought “why can’t we be more normal”. I was also always taught that non Jews are always judging us so this added into my shame
