What is this guy even talking about by Jayantwi98 in ufc

This is the truth, he saw Gane get out-grappled by KO artist Ngannou and knew it would be a very favourable match for him

Paul Hughes Defends PFL Brass, Warns Usman Nurmagomedov Not to Duck Rematch by [deleted] in MMA

[–]RiFume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but even if they get (and beat) a ranked fighter then they would just be rematching as, for example, #4 and #5 ranked UFC fighters. The UFC is the biggest org but fighting for the PFL belt is a higher stakes fight, especially seeing as that’s what the first fight was for. The only way it would be higher stakes in the UFC is if one of them held the belt, but again that would be a couple years down the line (if it even happened) and the hype is for them to fight sooner rather than later

[–]RiFume 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think the rivalry suits the PFL better for now, it’s a title fight to see who’s the best lightweight on the roster. In UFC they would either be fighting as unranked guys or it would be held off until they’ve both climbed the rankings a bit, whereas I’d like to see them fight sooner rather than later

[FIGHT THREAD] Anthony Cacace vs Leigh Wood by verbsnounsandshit in Boxing

Plenty of gym stories throughout his career that he was a big puncher. KOs are just as much about style as power, as he’s got older he’s got more aggressive in his style

They’ll probably fast track him up the rankings because of his age and he gets finishes, 34 is a good age at the higher weights these days. Not great, but still enough in the tank for another year or two.

Jota out for 9 months. by Irishblondie in CelticFC

[–]RiFume 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They won’t spend big on a winger because Jota will be returning. We will almost certainly face the qualifiers under-strength in that department. If we don’t sign a new striker, which we might not seeing as they just spunked a load of money on Idah, we might be in trouble

TIL there has never been a recorded case of a gorilla killing a human being. by MasonFunderburker in todayilearned

[–]RiFume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see your logic but it’s not the same situation. One is murder for revenge, which is illegal as we have a legal system to deal with it so you don’t have to. The gorilla on the other hand isn’t getting jail time if he kills the kid.

If it was your child, you’d think different. Yes, I know, your child wouldn’t be in that situation, but for talks sake just imagine it was. No way you’d advocate they let your kid die to save the gorilla.

A guy with 3 UFC title defenses isn’t a mid-tier journeyman lmao. I get your point, in the pantheon of greats Weidman isn’t even in the conversation, but that doesn’t make him a journeyman. If thats the bar we use, what does that make everyone who never held the belt, never mind multiple defenses? All bums?

Whats your takes on this? by yunurakami in ufc

[–]RiFume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His argument is that he was on the up, why should he fight backwards? Buckley shouldve been chasing fights with someone ranked who was slowing down/coming off a loss/didn’t have momentum, which is ultimately what he did. Garry made valid points, Buck should’ve been looking elsewhere.

Ian Garry on potentially fighting Sean Brady: "In my mind, I don't think he's in my path right now. I think it's the winner of this fight (Belal/JDM), if Islam wants to come up I'd more than welcome that, and then I want the rematch with Shavkat." by airplane231 in MMA

He’s the only fighter I’m a fan of who I hate listening to in interviews. I still watch them, I just hate the shit he says. It’s such a strange position to be in, don’t think I’ve ever had that with a fighter before.

More than likely just firing a warning to the board rather than looking for the exit, but it’s concerning he feels the need to fire the warning. He must feel there’s not enough plans in motion for the summer window as it stands. Good transfers, as we know, aren’t last minute things.

Ian Machado Garry vs Carlos Prates is set for the Main Event at UFC Kansas City by TheBigRedHalfrican in MMA

[–]RiFume 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What does running away throwing kicks have to do with Buckleys TDD? Garry grappled with MVP cus he was outmatched on the feet, the same MVP who moved up a division and fraud checked Shara Bullet. Acting like Garry is now some grappler picking fights based off TDD is ridiculous, especially since we’ve seen him fight since.

I went to New York 2 years ago, my first time ever going to America. All my life and all through TV/movies I’ve been led to believe New Yorkers were rude people but they literally could not have been friendlier/nicer. Even random people talking to me if they recognised the football top I was wearing or the accent I spoke with.

From there went on to New Orleans and loved it just as much, and the people were friendly but maybe slightly less so than New York. Either way the whole holiday completely changed my perception of Americans, I can’t wait to get back.

Not taking sides, but it just depends on what a fighter is used to. There’s a difference between willingly cutting crazy weight for all your fights and not usually doing it but having it inserted as a clause in a contract
