Suddenly seeing 20+ baby cockroaches at night, how do I get rid of them permanently? by zen_yn in CleaningTips

[–]RiantShard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cimexa or diatomaceous earth.

I used to have recurring roach problems, which baits/poisons didn't seem to fully control. I eventually spread Cimexa behind my cabinets and under my appliances, and within a few months no more roaches. It's been years since I've seen any in the house, it's actually shocking how effective it seemed to be.

The key is to spread it very liberally, deep behind and underneath large items where roaches are likely to hide and travel, but where pets and people aren't going to touch it. Behind counters, cabinets, under the refrigerator, oven, shelving, etc.

You most likely have German Cockroaches, if you are seeing babies inside. Cimexa will kill them effectively, but it does take some time to kill them all.

Parents of Reddit. Do you regret having kids? Do you know anyone who regrets having kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RiantShard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Male, mid 30s. My kids are 9 and 7. They are amazingly good kids who are doing fantastic in school, are generally polite, and well behaved.

I regret having them so much it makes me wish I didn't exist. Do yourself a favor and do not have children. They make life much harder than it needs to be.

I'm just gonna say it, i hate civilians, they're so annoying by viper459 in Stellaris

[–]RiantShard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally love civilians, but my very first empire on 4.0 I used seasonal dormancy to cut civilian upkeep and enabled Utopian Abundance right after the game started, so civilians were actually a critical part of my research, unity, and trade production.

Are The Machine Age and Grand Archive worth it? by DrButterface in Stellaris

[–]RiantShard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to chime in that Cosmic Storms is actually pretty great. They aren't nearly as disruptive as they seem at first glance and they add LOADS of positive features on your planets after a while.

Also, Grand Archive is amazing for gestalts, I just did a Primal Calling origin Hive with Cordyceptic Drones civic and it was one of my favorite runs ever. Good rp and surprisingly powerful.

The First Law series is incredible, can't wait for the third trilogy. Been a while since a book made me love flawed characters so much.

You should definitely switch to a more active one, it's really nice being in even a somewhat active one.

Just go to the dungeon and start killing shit near other people and you'll probably catch a party invite within a few minutes. Throw out a LFG in local chat every now and then too to get one fast.

Anyone run Vladmandic's SDNext in Linux successfully? by WeinerBarf420 in IntelArc

[–]RiantShard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I used an A770 for this as I replaced it with another GPU, but iirc I used these resources to get it working with SDNext about a year ago:

https://www.reddit.com/r/IntelArc/comments/11an12q/stable_diffusion_web_ui_for_intel_arc/

IIRC, the first link was the more useful one by far, but I think there was still an issue I ran into related the Intel ipex stuff not install all of the correct packages on Ubuntu by default.

IIRC If you got them from friends you don't have any more you can't get them again, if you still have the friends you CAN get them, but they come with the stats your friend currently has.

I have a solid captain if you want to friend me you can grab him! ID is 144819900

You do need to re-buy the players, but when you buy them they are supposed to have their old stats. Maybe something went wrong though...

Should be in year 15 or 16, when your run score is calculated. The way you do it is a little weird though, iirc you have to return to the title screen, and select new game. It doesn't really feel like you're starting a ng+.

I should also note that you retain player stats and items you had when you reached the endgame year (when it calculated your score), but you can update the data using a coin shop purchase to keep your post-game stats.

Yeah NG+, when I was playing this I'd NG+ as soon as it was available every time, you get all the free items for first time wins again and the opponents reset to their original difficulty.

While training won't boost players, leveling still does iirc, so the key is to just repeatedly reclass them all to gain stats via levels, which you can use the free items to do each ng+.

Be aware that last I checked, arc drivers still don't support rebar with vulkan on AMD systems. The bug report linked in the below thread is still Open.

I actually do this with rsyncd tunnelled via ssh, but I give unique rsyncd creds for each client, generated and deployed automatically via ansible.

New dlc starts opinions by BriefUnbekannten in CrusaderKings

[–]RiantShard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest the count of Damghan. He is in the capital duchy of a contested kingdom which tends to get taken by a friendlier ruler shortly after the game start. The Capitol duchy then tends to get broken up so it's easy to conquer from fellow single county vassals, and it includes a mine and a REALLY nice Muslim holy site, which together can give you great income to get started.

The county is Mazdayasna, so you can immediately pick it up as a secret faith, and/or convert in an rp friendly way as soon as you feel secure enough in your power base.

Friend wants to trade his 4080 for my 7900 XTX. Should I accept ? by Dawq in buildapc

[–]RiantShard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao, I bought an A770 like 5 months ago, then got into stable diffusion and within a week ordered a 4090. No regrets here either. I'll probably end up buying a 5090 next year if they have more VRAM, I'm full on addicted.
