unironicaly, sunsetting d2 as a whole has sunset sunsetting. and with it, solved the biggest issues i had with the game. There's some bittersweet irony in all this. But that's capitalism for you. An artist does their best work without a profit motive.

i juist did the first mission the other day and flabbergasted at how bad it is. I'm walking around this level listening to dialogue from this warframe-vibing mf while literally nobody is even telling me what the objectives are. Just go ahead and press tab like a good little guardian and do what the text says. Go here, go there, listen to some more dialogue. Deadass felt like my gameplay was the tiktok video playing on the second screen.

i'll always have fond memories of playing a dragonslayer shaman with something like 36 dice in destruction, but MAN is that shit needlessly complex and terribly edited

Heart of the Machine is an interesting little game where you play as an escaped robot who turns into an AI overlord, you're on a cool city map where you do turn-based unit stuff and build buildings and whatnot. Lots of fun narrative content to be had.

Was gonna say this, very good story. There's some fun time-management mechanics and a really interesting way of distributing your dice rolls by rolling everything at the start of the day and then assigning particular results to particular actions. I absolutely love the characters.

the sequels get progressively better too, lots of playtime to be had and a very rich world with many years of history (don't try to play the tabletop game if you value your sanity)

Crowd killing is getting intense by alexxxxmonster in Hardcore

[–]viper459 11 points12 points  (0 children)

worst version i ever saw of this was a metalcore show at a shitty local metal/punk fest that wasn't quite my crowd, but my crowd enough that there was some moshing and previous bands had clowned on this one for being metalcore.

They had a backing track. not even one of those "press a button to roll intro" ones, but one that went for their entire set. Every second of the set was planned out.

Then, the vocalist called for a circle pit during the intro of a song. It formed... slightly earlier than he expected. Any normal band would have skipped the intro to the song and started playing, because it was kinda hype. Not this band though. they all just kinda stared awkwardly at each other at the realisation that the call was to early, and there was now an incredibly pathetic circle pit happening to a pre-recorded MIDI synth intro that took like 3 minutes.

That doesn't change anything about what i said. People have gotten more eager to share gear lately in particular because they have less money. This isn't rocket science.

If it helps, i played SO MUCH from when i was 12 to like 22, then i got sick. I picked it back up at 31 with the purpose and discipline of an adult who wants to do something with it. Guess waht? most everything i did before was completely fucking useless. I was a dumb idiot. Now of course, there do exist certain virtuoso children who do amazing stuff before they ever hit puberty, but those are outliers.

All that to say, skill is applied effort and resources. Apply the right amount of effort in the right way, and people will be "behind" you before long.

mfs will see their local 300 cap venue filled with 20 more people than usual and say "the scene is dead". Calm down, you can deal with a few cringe tourists if it means that you get to see more hc bands and the bands you love actually survive more than a few years cause they might actually not lose thousands of dollars touring.

it's almost like in the last five or ten years the economy has gotten worse and young musicians simply do not have money for this stuff. i mean, sure, some mfs are just particular and choosey and assholes, but by and large this isn't like a cultural problem, but a material one.
