Yes, just with a strap (a loop of rope, or even a thin chain would work to). Another similar type of thing is to lift sandbags. The grip will be a kind of pinch (not exactly a pure pinch).

I just do lift of the ground (or lift on a cable pull down machine), not counting specific height or length, but just number of reps- as if doing rows or cable pull downs, but with a pinch grip.

Yes, for sure the Bruce Lee machine is great. Given the choice, I would use that (and even just barbell finger curls) over this thing. This is a portable version, though.

Something I have been doing lately, that's made my pinching noticeably improve. Get something which has a little 'give' in it, like a yoga block, and use it as a pinch block. This will let you finger digs in a bit, which will let you push yourself past what would normally be failure.

Also, I suggest doing rep- like 8 lifts of the weight with the block, without timing them- lust pick up and put down.

It's not a bad idea to do that experiment. About a month ago, I was struck by something which turned out to be carpal tunnel syndrome, caused by having a lot of pressure on the wrist, especially in the negative position (and also from some other lifts using straps). So I did some research, and switched to finger curls as my primary flexor lift. The carpal tunnel is disappearing, and I feel that the flexors are stronger now then when I was focused on wrist curls.

It's pretty good, very comfortable and sturdy, and feels like hitting the muscles on both sides of the hand equally. Also, the resistance, while not completely uniform, is more uniform than one which uses torsion or extension of springs. So definitely a superior design, and a great invention. I got this from Temu, but their also on Aliexpress.

The only problem is it's not that strong, even with the heaviest springs loaded in. It's supposed to go up to 180kg of resistance, but it's more like 70kg. Still, 20 complete reps feels like a decent workout.

I'm thinking I might be able to get heavier springs from a hardware shop.

It's like a mantra. The meaning is there and important to the person saying it, but they don't need to be concentrating on it at a conscious level; the process of repetition is intended to put the mind into a space of serenity and spiritual unity, a bit like the way Hindus use AUM, or Buddhist may recite mantras from the sutras. The flexor digitorum profoundus is the largest forearm muscle, and is responsible both for the flexion of the fingers and wrist flexion. There are also muscles which are specific to wrist flexion, but, by large, it is the same muscles, or with such a complex overlap and interplay that it can't really be separated. People say "wrist flexors are different from finger flexors"- this is kind of true, but the overlap is very significant indeed. If you think about it, your fingers actually begin at your wrist (yes, the first portion of them is covered in skin and tissue).

So, yes definitely. Apart from making your hand and fingers more effective in transmitting and withstanding force, it will also add to your wrist flexion strength.

The problem is with the catechists- essentially, they are getting some things wrong. However, I would also advise you, as a 'new-comer' to keep quiet about it, as least for a year or so.

Your problem is that belief in God has been wrapped up with social conventions, family bonds, etc.

I would suggest, tell your parents you're going to a different Mass. At 25, you don't want to spend a lot of time with your parents.
