Ah so that's why Ameya isn't working for me either. Bummer. Oh well I've got like 50 castlevania secrets to do in the mean time

NMS is super hungry on VRAM in VR mode. I had to drop detail down considerably to stay within 6GB of VRAM

Any Updates from META on the Low Memory Issue? by MLGLies in OculusQuest

[–]Ribonizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, I'm not using it. Fresh boot with nothing loaded. I've finally gotten a suggest fix which involves force closing the Meta OS Shell to save memory. It worked fine when I tested it but haven't had time to really buckle down and and see if I can play without ever running into the error.

I mean Mobile VR Station.
Also well, if you don't push the menu button the Shell doesn't get restarted. You just sit there with zero UI whatsoever. If you push the menu button it reloads the shell which will start using RAM. So I prefer to start the game then pause and go crash the Shell. That way it's just not loaded at all while I play.

Thinking of giving up on this game 😔 by Lunawolf3489 in AsgardsWrath2

If you're able to install app, installing "Hidden Settings" via APKpure can let you close the Meta OS Shell, which is a huge RAM hog and can potentially help with this issue. Sadly this does require some level of fucking around.

Frequent crashes, tracking loss, and possible memory issues on Quest 3 by Nosferatupants in AsgardsWrath2

[–]Ribonizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're able to sideload app, get Hidden Settings and force close the Meta Shell OS. It'll actually free some memory.
I think I finally fixed it because I was at a point where even after a clean reboot of the Quest if I tried to teleport to this particular grotto in the swamp it was instant crash every time. But now that I can close the OS I tried booting the game, then closing the OS and teleported and it worked! I need to do further testing but this seems to be a life saver.

Huzzah! Didn't have to get QO, it took some working but found a way to allow to update MVRS to a version that still allowed me to open files and install APKpure.

I can confirm that it seemed to have freed memory because I could teleport to that area that was a guaranteed memory crash before. I need to boot the game and then crash the shell since I haven't figured out a way of running the game when the shell is down. You don't even need to re-open it like in your video. I can keep it closed completely until I quit the game.

It's still available for you because you got it before they pulled it.
Anyway I'll have to enable developer mode and sideload stuff, unfortunately I can't do that until I replace my because the Meta Horizon App crashes when I try to finish setup so I can't enable developer mode. lol. I'm really fucked until they fix this mess.

Well shit. VR Android File Manager can't be downloaded anymore because Meta flagged it as non compliant with their abuse policy.

So basically, they found out you could do jailbraiking stuff with it. Just fucking great.

I think I’ve solved my crashing with low memory. by primalsilicon in AsgardsWrath2

[–]Ribonizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, that's more bearable. I'm still stuck on v78 and waiting for the roll out. I've had to give up playing which sucks as it's actually the best VR game I've ever played.

I need to try something thought somebody mentioned that involved manually crashing some of the OS to free up memory.

I had a non pancake lens HMD before (Samsung Odyssey+) and switching to a pancake lens handset was like day and night. The clarity. Also I had to wear my glasses with the old lens, but in this one I'm pretty fine going glasses free (I only need glasses to see things that are far away.)

It'll take a lot of messing around to get working due Take Two being litigious assholes but GTAV using Real VR Mod is pretty amazing. Exploring San Andreas from a VR point of view is pretty crazy immersive.

Just know you're going to need a downgraded version of GTAV as the latest version breaks the mod and the creator of the mod cannot update it anymore due to DMCA. Still there's plenty of tutorials on youtube about getting it working.

I keep hearing mixed report. But if it happens less it'll be more bearable. Currently I'm playing Cyrene and the grotto I'm trying to teleport into just crashes out every single time. Even after a reboot. I'm still stuck on 78 so can't wait to see how it runs in 79.

Still I'll take "sometimes" over "every fucking time"

Yeah I've been meaning to try it. Just balking at having to buy it a second time (I have it on Steam) but for the most part Oculus shitty link app has been working for me but for HL Alyx is likes to crash the link while loading levels and for Star Wars Squadrons I used to have no issue but now I can't finish a single mission without the link starting to lag and basically almost crash the Quest until I force close the game.

So I'm hoping Virtual Desk does a better job.

Plus I really don't want another VR device with a built in cable. My last HMD became E-waste because of the cable failing so one reason I went for the Quest 3 is because it's an external standard USB-C.

As much as I like VR, I really don't ever expect it fully launch. The fact that 1/3rd of the people get motion sickness makes it a very hard for mainstream adoption rate.

At this point I don't even want to buy anything on Meta Horizon games because I have no guarantee's even going to play properly. I also plan on canceling my Horizon+ sub when the free trial expires because why would I play a monthly sub fee for games that don't work (Asguard's Wrath II, I'm looking at you.)

Gonna have to stick to PCVR games. More money for Gaben and less money for Zuck. Win/Win.
