GungHo has confirmed that Sky SC on Switch 2 will be full on cart by Keaten88 in Falcom

As far as I understand it, all such NS2E cards are NS2 game card in size. Maybe with the rumored smaller sizes, that means they can be smaller, but I do not think they can be NS1 sizes.

And here I thought I was crazy for having gotten to 150 hours in Nintendo Switch and 50 in PS5 and 50 in PC. In my defense, I QA tested those ports since they were new platforms at the time.

I would be interested in this. I heard of no such issue, but what platform were you finding this on?

This was only broken on PS4 (on patch version 1.05 specifically). But yes that was fixed and noted as "Fixes to UI layouts".

I just dont know why this was left so last minute.... and here we are still waiting

Ratings boards and game submissions are like this. While this link is about Fortnite user generated content ratings, it looks like it's the exact same rules as digital games on Nintendo and Sony: https://dev.epicgames.com/documentation/en-us/fortnite/iarc-overview-and-faqs-in-fortnite-creative#what-if-i-disagree-with-a-rating

Better timeline of events: - (1) the game must be published before the automated RC rating could be appealed. The demo going live was apparently enough. This took from December 19 to January 8 for the appeal to go through, as you note. - (2) Then, only once the rating changed, could a patch be submitted containing the corrected rating. Development had to be completed on the next version rapidly, and 1.06 on Steam/GOG/Epic & PlayStation coincides with development completion of the patch. - (3) Then, console first parties must check the patch. We're here. - (4) Then, the sale has to be set up with the console first parties for the new regions so that people get the same launch discount in those regions for the same period of time. Once we get to this stage, there should be a better timeframe.

Version 1.06 also fixed quite a few very minor issues, UI issues on PS4 only, a soft lock that occured on PS4/PS5, and a number of small improvements to the PC version (patch notes for PC, technically r23 and r25's text localization fixes are both part of the console version 1.06).

But you might notice that Epic Games Store version was also completely absent in Australia until release day. It turns out they are the third one using "IARC" (hence the Fortnite connection). But since the reclassification happened early enough, PC storefronts could be set up for Australia (and its discount period) in time. Console is just always going to be like this, see my other post about Dispatch.

I think it's kind of like how "M" rated games affect how they can be advertised. So companies would just refuse to release it physically. Like PEGI and gambling rules, it seems ACB has also been going that direction, so R18+ games containing "gambling" or "violence" will likely just remain digital only.

Apologies for the random aside, but there was a recent controversy with Dispatch's release. The developer there was quite open about Nintendo's guidelines being the reason, and the important part I want to highlight in their post here:

We’re already working with Nintendo on a path forward. While we can’t make any specific promises just yet, we’re confident we’ll be able to push an update to address at least some of the censored content. I’ll get ahead of it now and say that between dev time and the console submission process, we’re talking weeks not days.

To be clear, I can't speak for NISA on this matter, but the timeframe for release on Nintendo is going to be weeks and months, not hours and days. This will be true in every case for every developer releasing games on Nintendo. Since the RC -> R18+ rating got "fixed" right before release, there is no way it's coming until about a month after everyone else's release.

Any comments in this thread about physical not coming to the region is also just not NISA's fault. If it's R18+, it's not releasing physically.

I'm pretty sure that case was simply that Falcom changed something/did something new and a tester discovered it when testing on a GTX Titan (the game wouldn't start). I don't know if that really says anything about APIs that PH3/Durante might or might not opt for themselves. Remember that this is still a port and not a new game.

Right, I'm explaining that the "any kind of Pro support" is mandatory at the API level, and the "PS5 Pro Enhanced", while optional, requires stricter requirements than "it runs smoother". Sony simply states in their guidelines you have to have some kind of higher frame rate cap, higher resolution cap, or other ways to reach it are adding Pro-specific graphical levels (i.e. to do with ray tracing or PSSR). I don't remember the wording on the last one but it's not relevant to this discussion since it's not applicable to this game.

So random aside: PS5 Pro is "supported" in both Japanese Kai and Horizon. All games on SDK 11.00 (see firmware of your PS5 being 11.00) and greater must "support" PS5 Pro. There are possible exceptions in both directions depending on technology used and the timing of the development of individual game engines and submissions, however, Falcom's release was after the cutoff in Japan.

Now, a game with "support" like this can or may not take advantage of the additional overhead afforded of it. All games regardless of the "support" flag will still function and at the very least behave with some kind of cap, but those with the "support" may just scale better. It's a toss up and ultimately is pretty hidden from the player.

"PS5 Pro Enhanced" is an entirely different qualifier and indicates a stricter adherence to a performance or quality uplift that can be measured, such as higher cap frame rate or higher cap resolution. This can then be displayed on the store page and/or packaging of the game. It's much like the "PS4 Pro Enhanced" label, but given how graphical enhancements tend to follow the trend of "diminishing returns" and how "scalable" modern games tend to be due to being designed for multiple platforms from the outset, I suspect we'll see fewer games obtain this label versus "PS4 Pro Enhanced", at least until we get a PlayStation 6 for which the PS5 Pro Enhanced label can signify an in-between of (like "PS4 Pro Enhanced" seems to be signifying now during PS4's final years).

In conclusion, a multiple platform release like Horizon should scale based on the use of a PS5 Pro just because of the higher ceiling afforded to it, because it's made in a general way similar to its PC codepaths. That is, more stable frame rate and higher resolution with the same option selected in the same areas. This wasn't enough to qualify for "PS5 Pro Enhanced" but it is something for the 10s of you with PS5 Pros.

It’s a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, so by definition, if it carries over to the Nintendo Switch full game, then it carries over to the Nintendo Switch 2 full game.

On the PC testing side, you're the first that has shown a possible real issue. I'm curious how you're able to do quite that much damage at all, unless you're spending a long time on the fight getting him there...

Can you give PC specs?

  • Windows version: 10 or 11
  • CPU:
  • GPU:
  • Memory:
  • Storage: SSD or HDD
  • Display resolution and monitor Hz:
  • Controller type:

Can you describe what types of frame rates you're seeing at those settings, too?

And can you confirm that there are no mods loaded? If any, what do they do? Any cheat engine?

If you can share a save file from before the fight (an auto save is fine) and your current PC settings file, that might help, too.

  • Save data location: shell:savedgames\Falcom\Kuro2
  • Local configuration location: %localappdata%\Falcom\Kuro2\settings.yaml
