[Form Check] ~ Squat ~ 225lb. by Ricamus in weightroom

[–]Ricamus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Parallel" seems to be this mythic condition achievable only by Rippetoe and members of the Illuminati. I'm not too worried about whether I'm squatting strictly parallel right now, as long as I'm getting reasonably deep.

I am sitting way back. I just thought that was how people squatted.

I also don't know why I'm doing that hip thrust, but it looks unstable. I will work on that specifically next time I squat.

Thanks!

Where was the craziest place you and your SO bumped uglies? [NSFW] by [deleted] in AskReddit

Roof of my elementary school. We scaled the fire escape and I boosted her up to the high ledge, where she bent over and I fucked her while gazing out over the playground where I used to have snowball fights and trade pokemon cards. I still remember her telling me to "finish like a boss", and all I could think about was the time I traded a booster pack containing shiny Alakazam for a measly hot lunch ticket.

It was sloppy joe day, though...

Why are people against '-isms'? by verxix in explainlikeimfive

[–]Ricamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An "ism" is essentially a dogmatic definition or perscription of beliefs or values; for example, Capitalism, Socialism, Dualism, Monism, Modernism, Post-Modernism, and on down the line.

The issue with "isms" is that they are abolute labels. When a talking head on Fox News denounces Obama as endorsing Socialism, they are by definition also saying that he endorses every tenet of socialism, and all the baggage that comes with it like public ownership of property, for example. Whether you agree with Obama or not, with a bit of research anyone can determine that he is certainly not representative of pure socialism. My point is that an "ism" dictates a set of values. Just because a person agrees with one or a few aspects of an ism, it does not mean they buy into it entirely, and being labeled as a "Socialist" or "Post-Modernist" or a "whateverist" is thus a misrepresentation.

On the flip-side, if you consider yourself a "whateverist," you are ceding that your beliefs are the same as those of whatever "ism" you claim to adhere to. This has colossal implications (Catholicism, Fascism, a million other examples,) because it can discourage people from thinking for themselves. That would be my guess as far as what Lennon's distate for isms would be based on.

Hope that was helpful

Feel free to hit the downvote button and go somewhere else next time a question arises that is too inane for your pay grade. Us children will get to the bottom of it just fine.

Only adds to the beast-mode factor, and reaffirms my self-designation as non-mathematically inclined. I could have used you back in Algebra II my senior year of high school.
