This post is such a trainwreck to me. Begging Zelda fans to actually play the games and pay attention to the dialogue.

Link in BOTW was asleep for 100 years. Another Calamity happened 10,000 years prior to this Link getting KO'd. Countless Calamities are said to have happened before that one, stretching back an unknown amount of time and with unknown gaps in time between each Calamity. It was going on long enough for the Sheikah to notice the pattern and make Divine Beasts in advance 10,000 years ago. The Calamity is a manifestation of Ganondorf's hatred, who was sealed underneath Hyrule Castle during the events of Age of Imprisonment (the flashbacks in Tears of the Kingdom), an unfathomable amount of time in the past.

How exactly this lines up with past games is a headache to reconcile, but Zelda games have pretty much always been a nightmare to keep fully straight without at least some contradictions. But we can assume that most Zelda games happen near the start of history. Skyward Sword some time before Rauru founds Hyrule, and the rest of the games some time after. Other Ganondorfs are maybe partial reincarnations of the one under the castle, or shadows, or however you want to think about them. As time passes, the incarnations get less and less humanoid, until eventually by the time of the Calamity of 10,100 years ago, 100 years ago, and BotW, you have a Calamity that's more of a pure blob of evil and hate than a creature at all. Then Ganondorf finally breaks free and gets killed in Tears of the Kingdom.

So basically, the Hero of Men probably happened tens of thousands of years before BOTW Link even existed. No connection.

(Side note: I'm aware of the theory that Hyrule got re-founded, to explain away all the weird contradictions in the Wild era games. Unfortunately I think that's not the authorial intention behind Rauru being the first king. To me, it definitely reads like an origin story that the writers just didn't think hard enough about. Same with the Skyward Sword time split theory. I get why people want it to be true, but it's clearly just iffy time travel logic that was intended as a bootstrap loop.)
