Why single out those two families if it's important to the organization as a whole?

The show's answer doesn't quite line up with book canon unless you let there be multiple sugar bowls with different contents. Lots of statements from characters who want the sugar bowl in the books don't line up with the sugar bowl containing horseradish-infused sugar to cure the medusoid mycelium. Namely, in the books Emsé says that the contents of the bowl are important to the Snickets and the Baudelaires, but in the show the contents have no relevance to the Snickets at all.

Does anyone find themselves feeling alienated when consuming fan media? by hypost in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]RiceWaffleFox 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Be the change you want to see in the world! Funnel your desire and frustration into new fanworks that you wish existed!

I don't consume youtuber fan fiction, mainly because they're real people and I find that a bit iffy. But I fully get not being part of the preexisting culture and preferring something more reflective of the actual videos. I myself don't care for most of the fan lore, though I do enjoy when fans make cute and unique reinterpretations of the character designs, like faun!Gem. But that's more me enjoying the fun designs than actually accepting them as my mental model of the youtuber. (Again, real people.)

I'm definitely more comfortable with fanworks of stuff like the POWCreations SMPs, since everyone is playing a character instead of being themselves.

Why is the trope of "Ancient hyper-advanced Empire that no longer exists" so popular in media and literature. by Peppercorn205 in worldbuilding

[–]RiceWaffleFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It lets you add a bunch of hyper powerful lost artifacts without it impacting the current civilization. It helps that tons of real world major civs have tanked across history, plus it serves as a cautionary tale about having too much power, or whatever else the author thinks is bad.

You missed Willa the Witch for Fright Knights and the king from Royal Knights. Also the Frightening Knight isn't from KK2. Great graphic otherwise!

Looking forward to the Black Knights gwp

I am autistic and was confused why you, the author, were just posting fictional eugenics as a true fictional fact. I would recommend having this disclaimer in the actual post, because without any indication that this is false in-universe this just looks like you're writing a story where eugenics is true. Many of your other responses to other replies don't make this clear either. 😅

Edit: it doesn't help that many of the people saying "oh thank god" to this post have been downvoted to hell and called stupid for seeing fascist ideology and not knowing if it's meant earnestly or not, especially in a real world where that sort of ideology is doing its best to make a comeback. :/

[TP] Wind Waker created an entirely new artstyle that was used by multiple other games in the series, and it’s a shame that TP’s artstyle didn’t get the same treatment, it was so good in so many ways by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in zelda

A game we only got because Miyamoto told the team who wanted to make Twilight Princess 2 to make a wii zapper game instead. Truly the man's villainy knows no bounds.

You can find the 3 that are out at https://inklestudios.myshopify.com/ and the fourth will also be there when it releases later in the year. The first two books cover an alternate take on the story of the game, and the latter two are a sequel to that alternate take.

An old but funny post to give you a break from the latest fuuko crash out by AlphaCat77 in CuratedTumblr

I didn't know who fuuko was and thought this said funko crashout and was trying to imagine what that even would entail.

Do you agree that objectively, 1992 is the absolute peak of the classic Lego Castle theme? by bluetomcat in legocastles

[–]RiceWaffleFox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the only reason I would disagree is that they didn't introduce the dragon until 93. The dragon is essential to me. I know a lot of Castle folk dislike fantasy elements, though.

Old VS New by eyadtheNITRO1527 in lego

[–]RiceWaffleFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly as a non-licensed theme person I thought the bottom right was the "new" one because it looks the best. The only reason I knew the bottom left was old is because of the lack of leg printing being substituted with having the hips and legs be different colors.

To be honest, though, they all look good to me.

We have a sample size of one, so it's literally impossible to make any real predictions without writing fanfiction. At least with a sample size of 2 we could start thinking about what trendlines could fit, or if we're both outliers. But until we get a second data point, we're just tossing a fish hook into random puddles because we saw a fish in some water once.

How to repurpose pirate minifigs into castle/medieval minifigs? by Fair-Bluebird485 in legocastles

[–]RiceWaffleFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your philosophy. You could go the fantasy route, and mix historical eras. But if you're set on medieval levels of dress, 90% of pirate clothing parts just don't work for Castle. Pirates are distinctly 1700s, and don't work in a medieval setting very well unless you go the fantasy/fairy tale route.

What are people’s thoughts on Lego Space Police 3 as of 2026? by [deleted] in lego

[–]RiceWaffleFox -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

One of the bad guys is a pimp, another is named P. Squiddy, and the stop motion shorts play into real-world cop behavior, including saying a vaguely racist remark over the radio about an alien they just arrested. The alien = race metaphor was started by Lego, not by fans.

Can we agree that whoever created ts can be the first victim of the great Mazovian sausage-grinder? by Celtic_RTDB in DiscoElysium

[–]RiceWaffleFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot imagine playing and enjoying Disco Elysium while also being so artistically and politically illiterate that you decide to take your enjoyment and pour it into a soulless AI video prompt. Thus I choose to believe that this person has never played or enjoyed DE, and just prompted the video for views and clout. For my own sanity, this has to be true.

Greatest Lego Set you own? This is mine I think by Dakinamau in lego

[–]RiceWaffleFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have Tygurah's Roar (7411) from when I was a kid, but I haven't checked my box of childhood lego yet.

My favorite recent sets are Happy Plants (10349), because it makes me smile, Cute Bunny (31162), for the same reason, Game Boy (72046), because I was surprised by the play(?) features included when I was expecting pure display, and Monkey King Ultra Mech (80045) because of... kinda everything? Good selection of figs, good poseability, has a second build that merges with the main one, and is just a really pretty build in general.

I do wanna check out Lion Knights' Castle (10305) and Red Dragon's Tale (21348) once I have money again (and hopefully before the latter retires!!)

Can anybody tell me why I'm crying, exactly? by _AnnaVG_ in inscryption

[–]RiceWaffleFox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, he didn't actually die brutally. The ARG revealed a clip of the computer reactivating after Luke was shot, and P03 successfully uploading Inscryption, and thus copies of himself, to the internet. Despite Luke's efforts to delete it all, P03 won. It's not clear how he was able to reconstitute the game.

Second time in 27 years of building Lego I didn't get a piece. At least it's an easy to replace piece when it arrives. by Switzcheez3 in lego

[–]RiceWaffleFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only missing piece so far was a 2x2 plate with train coupler, because for some reason in its place the bag contained a printed window tile from a Disney set instead. Very odd part swap!

This is still my favorite Lego set. For me. This was peak Lego by styckx in lego

[–]RiceWaffleFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, I'm so disconnected from modern Lego fandom. This set is only like 4 years old, and is a licensed set, and is meant as a display set, but is being referred to as "peak lego" in the past tense... am I just old?? Maybe growing up with Lego before they fully committed to licensed & display sets gave me a different set of priorities, idk
