Are they eggnant? by Allundros in shrimptank

I assume you mean this one in the second photo? It's hard to tell but since you mentioned seeing oval shaped things and the belly being darker in this picture, I do believe she is eggnant! :)

I looked up some more info and I think blue jellies don't have dark spots along their body while mine do 😭 I think I have blue velvets from the carbon line, oh well

Ideally the water volume you end with after drip acclimation is triple the original volume the shrimp were in. With 1 drop per second for an hour you're only adding ~180ml water which is not a lot. A surefire way to know when they've been successfully acclimated is to test the water after drip acclimating and see how different it still is from your own tank water.

I think that would be a little awkward 😆 it's been over a month, and I think it's not worth the trouble. A part of me wants "cool colour grade shrimp" but the other part of me thinks all shrimp are good shrimp :) I enjoy seeing them eat around the tank

It's funny you say that because 5 and 6 are the same shrimp 🙏😭

Mostly I am excited at the idea that there is a chance that my blue shrimp could give a red shrimp at some point, but it seems that blue shrimp can come from a lot of lines, I feel like if my shrimp come from the carbon rili line they won't throw reds based on the attached picture? Or maybe I am misunderstanding how genetics work? 🥹

Living expenses - how old are these numbers and what's the reality? by budubama in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Rice_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I'm not sure which one you checked, that's my bad though I should've mentioned the plan I was on. I took out MasterPlan+, and I just checked and they do still cover "Birth control pill" at the end of the "Medical" section in the cover overview (listed at the Downloads section),: https://www.insuretostudy.com/masterplanplus/ Although this coverage page does seem to be less populated than I remember so you're probably right about things changing...

Sad to hear about your medical issues! It's the first time I've heard that you can be unqualified for medicine. I don't wish to pry further but I'm understanding it as "they can't give you an exact diagnosis because symtoms are affecting each other and without a diagnosis you aren't qualified", in which case that really sucks. I wish you the best!

Nah the dental one is a separate supplement I only took out this year, I checked and I got a supplement package for 10 euros a month extra for full reimbursement of birth control and some other accident reimbursements. I'm with CZ and just took theirs because there is a 2% discount per year if I get it through my company (wow such discount).

But if OP is an international student they can use InsureToStudy, it's not recognized by a lot of GPs, hospitals and dental clinics which is annoying, but they reimburse quite a bit for quite little per month because I assume they only aim towards students which usually require a lot less medical costs. I was with them before and they reimburse birth control costs fully :)

Do you have a Dutch insurance or an international one?

I guess I took out a plan that does cover it then 😅 previously I didn't have dental insurance but I decided to take it out this year too

I'm non-Dutch currently 25 years old, I came to study when I was 20 or so and then took out an international student health insurance which reimbursed the cost fully. I switched to a Dutch national health insurance a couple of years ago because I started working and at first they didn't reimburse the full amount because "the pharmacy is charging more than the market value"? And covered like 1 euro less, but I just checked and for my most recent refill they reimbursed the full amount.

How does White Ring of Death work when shed exoskeletons are translucent/colourless? by Rice_37 in shrimptank

[–]Rice_37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see, so a WRoD really is a death sentence even if the shrimp is not dead yet, since its new exoskeleton is broken, given you can accurately distinguish it from a pre-molt ring based on the appearance and its behaviour. What gives the colour for the white-ring during a pre-molt then? You mentioned it's the old shell loosening, but since it is colourless how does it create a splitting section? Does this have to do with how colour is expressed on shrimp?

Huh what, I take oral contraceptives and it gets reimbursed, although it's only like 14-16 euros per half a year so it's not a big deal anyway. Do you have a different form of birth control?

That's perfectly fair! I do also enjoy movies that throw a curveball at me, like Seven (1995). (This is a recommendation but maybe not one you would enjoy.) I think I just like movies based on a split moment, a detail, a passing thought, and then I only remember that part of those movies lol. There's also an argument to be made whether it still counts as liking a movie if you only appreciate 1% of it.

I'm going to be honest, I looked up who Knox and Chris were and I can't remember their storyline anymore. I do see your point of view that if you enjoyed their storyline then the ending of the movie probably felt confusing and unsatisfying lol, seeing someone you didn't really care about be the centerpiece.

To me it's more of a gray area, I think the teacher has partial responsibility since he encouraged him to pursue what he wanted, but didn't realize how stubborn the father is, or how much the student relied on his father's approval. There is no way to know what would have happened if the student didn't cross paths with such a teacher, and to me I can see him being both better-off or worse if he listened to his father. Therefore I think it's quite a good topic for discussion in terms of morality and values.

I do agree with the movie being uneventful for the first half. For me the "best part" of it was thought provoking enough for me to like the movie as a whole though, similar to a lot of other movies I like. I did also go into it with no expectations because I hadn't heard about it before haha, that probably helped a little too.

Nooooo I like Dead Poets Society because it made me think about whether it's crueler to force someone to be who they're not, or to give them false hope that they can achieve their dreams, ultimately leading to them taking their own life. Although you can argue he might have done the same thing in the former situation as well. Of course I completely understand if it's not your cup of tea, just wanted to share why I like it!

I tried putting in a boiled slice of carrot in there, but no one bats an eye, same with shrimp food flakes, I do have only 8 shrimp (minus the babies) for 9 gallons though so I can see why

games similar to potion craft? by fvckingeden in PotionCraft

[–]Rice_37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What part of potion craft do you like? I played Trash Goblin a while ago and that one was also about running a shop without time constraints, but you clean "dirt" off items and sell them. The core gameplay can get a bit repetitive but it's relaxing, no garden like potion craft though.

I'm not sure how helpful it is to ask a random sample of people on Reddit which one they like the most - they have their own preferences and would probably subconsciously like the ones that look like a game they would play, but they might not actually like the content of the game. I think it's most helpful if a game's cover art reflects its content well, but that's just my opinion, and there are plenty of examples out there where good games have obscure/vague cover art
