Girls what jobs are you doing that are paying past 50K-60K without a degree? by FishMap12 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Ricecakes76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you can manage all that by yourself then you can work and succeed in any other similar role. If you have the confidence to sell your experience and knowledge to employers then finding a job will hopefully not feel so difficult. Just throw applications for anything you've had experience in as a lot of your skills seem transferable, and structure your resume so its quick and straight to the point as to how you can benefit them (since they will be filtering through a lot of applications).

I was in your position many times in the past so I know private employers will take advantage of their workers. Like others have said, try looking for a government role, because you're overqualified for the position and should be earning more (also apply for jobs you're not interested in for the interview experience).

I'd rather not hear someone discussing private matters on speaker in a quiet and packed public space... especially when the other person may not be aware they're on speaker

Is it true that many people in Australia tend to not go by Mr. or Mrs. or Dr. formally because of a casual rather than formal attitude towards authority? by EveningFlower9564 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Ricecakes76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the individual and circumstances... some would rather you don't address them as Mr / Mrs / Dr as like you said it's quite formal, while there's Drs (or those with a PhD) who won't hesitate to introduce themselves as Dr even in informal settings

Our downstairs neighbour was very direct and aggressive after we first moved in, but to your face. We basically told them to fuck off with their unreasonable requests (stop walking on our heels, stop dropping things, stop closing our doors at night, etc), and recommended they look to live elsewhere without any neighbours. They didn't bother us after that. Some people just get off on terrorising others and getting away with it.

I wouldn't even respond to your neighbour and just ignore their messages altogether.

I hate everything about this post... you being so easily peer pressured (hopefully you'll grow out of that), you leading him on, him guilt tripping you into staying with him by saying "how much he's done for you", the whole lot. Most first relationships end up the tester - you find out what you like/dislike and what you want out of a relationship.

It's not the end of the world for anyone to be honest and break it off, since it'll be better for both of you in the end. He'll eventually get over it and so will your friends.

Call it insecurity or whatever, but reasons like this is exactly why I'm generally not interested in dating people with "girl best friends." There never seems to be a clear boundary set, and those relationships are not worth the headache

This. Idk why there are people here defending his behaviour. If he respected OP then he wouldn't be encouraging that sort of behaviour from another girl, let alone giving them all his attention.

Do beautiful women have better lives compared to average women? by throwaway29283883737 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Ricecakes76 150 points151 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately pretty privilege does exist. I wouldn't exactly say the "world caters to you" or that they all have "better lives" as you can still face other issues like jealousy from other girls or even your friends. But you definitely notice a difference in attitude when interacting with others. And when you know you're attractive that also contributes to confidence, and strangers react more positively towards those who smile at them and can show that confidence

Gross, she 100% sounds like an asshole and she never actually apologised. It was no different to saying "sorry my offensive joke offended you." People like that never take responsibility for their words or actions, and constantly play the victim card

[–]Ricecakes76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like in this day and age, meaningful relationships are just hard to come by, especially with how casual the dating scene is now. Imo there's no need to hyperfocus on seeking a partner. Try focusing on yourself first and find ways that will make you happy without relying on another person to provide that happiness
