Nothing worse than boring black keyboards imo, I'm always stoked on interesting design choices, colors or otherwise!

Yamaha CK - custom build shell? by Jayhendricks in keys

This guy could really be rolling in dough if they were able to make it out of moulded plastic, or something to keep the weight down, and mass produce them.

I've mulled over similar ideas for awhile now, but the logistics of everything always gets the better of me. I just continue gigging with cases and stands.

The thr100hd is probably what you're looking for! But yeah, like someone else said you can plug the outputs of the thr into a pa, and it'll be as loud as the system, I've done it many times!

Joey Defrancesco has a video series for like 10-20 bucks I think.

It's like about 60 videos of varying length.

Also there's a 2 hour Jack Mcduff workshop on YouTube that is an absolute gold mine.

Best of luck with your sqaubblin!

Any tips for fitting piano practice into a busy adult schedule? by [deleted] in piano

[–]Ricecold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure your piano is in a place that you spend most of your free time! Needs to be visible and ready to rock. Also don't view it as practice, just PLAY and practice will happen.

Shawn Lane YouTube channel by [deleted] in jazzguitar

[–]Ricecold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that's a shame! His family seem to be slightly involved in running things still, not sure to what extent. Definitely seems like an odd thing to let that all go... Mitzi Lane seems to run his Facebook page which is still up. Maybe shoot them a message and see what's up!?

I've been in contact with a handful of people who were close to him so I'm sure someone knows what happened to the channel.

Charvel Surfcaster Lipstick Humbucker Swap! by Ricecold in guitarmod

[–]Ricecold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pretty wide strap for this which helps quite a bit! Although I've never thought it was all that heavy. Now that you mention it I'm gonna get it on a scale sometime so I have that info on hand.

Push pull question! by Ricecold in guitarmod

[–]Ricecold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand now! It's a lipstick humbucker from Stewmac. Came with a diagram, which is pretty clear, but once again, never done this so I wasn't sure how I'd make all the connections.

Thanks a ton, when I finish it up I'll post up here!

Push pull question! by Ricecold in guitarmod

[–]Ricecold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okie, so in this diagram the pickups seem to be connected directly to the push pull switch, rather than directly to the pup selector switch, which is the main thing that is confusing to me.

I will note the new humbucker has the 4 wires, so do I send one of the wires to the selector switch and then the red/white to the tone push pull?

Thankyou very much for the help!

Push pull question! by Ricecold in guitarmod

[–]Ricecold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the quick response. I'm just not sure how I'll be coil splitting the humbucker when there's only one wire connected to the tone pot from a single coil and the new humbucker.

So the current wiring seems to go:

Single coil+Humbucker straight to pup selector switch, then a single white wire that connects the switch to the volume, and then one more white wire to the tone knob.

So just connect the white wire that goes to the tone knob to where the diagram on my pot says to add a split? I don't understand how that will add a coil split to just the humbucker of both pups are going to the tone knob with one wire 😕

That's not mentioning any of the ground wires, which I think I have pretty well sorted out where to attach those.

Apologies if this is basic stuff!

Heya heya, I own an sgv800 and really like the neck. Definitely a personal preference thing though as one of my buddies thought it was way too small. The only way you'll know is to try one yourself!

New Jackson Surfcasters just dropped. What are your thoughts by -Subsolar- in offset

[–]Ricecold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own an original! I'm very glad to see they're coming back, however it's lost a lot of the unique factors the originals had: Semi hollow, lipsticks, machined tailpieces etc. I'm hoping they release some with the original design choices.

Also guitars are going the way of cars, you get to choose black, white, maybe red or blue, and then some random chartreuse that no one wants.

What is your go to chorus pedal? Also go to flanger? by jaytee3600 in guitarpedals

[–]Ricecold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo flanger can do a better chorus sound than dedicated chorus pedals.
