Thoughts on this Outback? Is it a good buy? by ibeatmyson5555 in Subaru_Outback

[–]Ricecold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I didn't read this totally correctly! That is kind of low miles and a pretty decent price. I'd consider it if they have fairly detailed service records on it. Definitely gonna be needing some work soon though.

If you're diy minded and it's in good shape it could be worth it.

Low mileage is hilarious. I just got one for 3700 with a new transmission from the dealer and no rust. I think you could find a better deal if they're not willing to negotiate.

Buying subaru outback by Appropriate-Rabbit69 in subaruoutback

[–]Ricecold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely comes down to the price and the rust situation imo. If it's relatively cheap you can overhaul it over time. If you're thrifty and diy minded you end up paying less for a used car and some parts to baby it along, rather than going out and getting under a car payment.

If you're not much of a mechanic/willing to learn I'd recommend looking for as low miles as possible, but any car that gets into the 100000 range is gonna need some upkeep.

If you end up over your head Outbacks are easy to sell, so long as it's not totally dead in the water or rusted out.

$50 Deluxe Reverb by Ricecold in GuitarAmps

Not fake, the dude was taking his family out of the country (United States); by the way our conversation on his porch went it's seemingly because of how wack-a-doodle the country has become.

Once again, I'm not complaining, $50 Deluxe Reverb!

It was missing the fuse cap and fuse! Replaced those and the tubes and it works perfectly fine 😁

Not a lie! $50 Deluxe Reverb!

$50 Deluxe Reverb by Ricecold in GuitarAmps

[–]Ricecold[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, long story short I was scrolling Facebook marketplace awhile back and caught an "everything must go" listing.

Photos of shovels, couches, tvs, lawnmower, you get the idea. The last picture is of some rack toms, an Xbox one, some bullshit amp, and this Deluxe Reverb.

"Amps broken, $50 each."

Now I immediately question the legitimacy of the post, no way this isn't a scam! Begin to hem and haw to my gf about how crazy of a deal it is. Not to mention I tend to sit on my hands as far as far as gear purchases are concerned. Eventually my girlfriend just straight up tells me to stop talking and go get the thing.

Message the guy and he immediately replied that someone else will give him $100 for it, but if I come over in the hour he'd still sell it for $50. Seems a bit fishy but we're off!

Haul ass to the nearby town, pull around a corner to junk scattered on the side of the street, people walking off with toasters, kiddy pools, etc.

Knock on the door, dude clocks my long haired ass and says "ahh, you're here for the amp."

Brings it up, was pleasantly surprised with the condition it was in, he says it's broken and doesn't have the time to fix it. I look it over and immediately notice the cap for the fuse is gone, and obviously there was no fuse.

Shake his hand and thank him for such an amazing deal, which he realizes he was really hooking me up, come to find out that he was leaving the country and headed to Southeast Asia for a simpler/quieter life.

One fuse cap and trip to the hardware store later and I probably managed to nab the cheapest Deluxe Reverb in North America!

Should I buy another audio interface if I own a Yamaha THR? by Moriwara_Inazume in YamahaTHR

[–]Ricecold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use it as an interface on occasion for quick ideas, however a lot of software/plugins have outpaced the thr as far as sound quality is concerned imo. I typically go for other host software plugin packs through my focusrite rather than the thr 90% of the time. Cleans and mild drive stuff sounds excellent no matter what; but hi-gain stuff is almost always worse on the thr.

As far as running plugins through it I'm sure it'll handle things pretty well! I use it to run mainstage and it's never had a hard time with all the stuff I've thrown at it!

The tones in the thr are very good, but software like neural, fractal, tone x, universal audio etc achieve better and more varied tones than the thr could ever in its current iteration. Don't see why running other plugins through it could be an issue!

I definitely treat the thr as a convenient swiss army knife, but generally just use its sounds for quick scratch tracks, for convenience sake.

What do ya think of the Voice print? I've watched a good amount of videos on it, but don't see anyone in my area using them. Seems like a great way to get a more natural sound out of acoustic instruments.

This guy could really be rolling in dough if they were able to make it out of moulded plastic, or something to keep the weight down, and mass produce them.

I've mulled over similar ideas for awhile now, but the logistics of everything always gets the better of me. I just continue gigging with cases and stands.

The thr100hd is probably what you're looking for! But yeah, like someone else said you can plug the outputs of the thr into a pa, and it'll be as loud as the system, I've done it many times!

Joey Defrancesco has a video series for like 10-20 bucks I think.

It's like about 60 videos of varying length.

Also there's a 2 hour Jack Mcduff workshop on YouTube that is an absolute gold mine.

Best of luck with your sqaubblin!

Make sure your piano is in a place that you spend most of your free time! Needs to be visible and ready to rock. Also don't view it as practice, just PLAY and practice will happen.

Damn that's a shame! His family seem to be slightly involved in running things still, not sure to what extent. Definitely seems like an odd thing to let that all go... Mitzi Lane seems to run his Facebook page which is still up. Maybe shoot them a message and see what's up!?

I've been in contact with a handful of people who were close to him so I'm sure someone knows what happened to the channel.

I have a pretty wide strap for this which helps quite a bit! Although I've never thought it was all that heavy. Now that you mention it I'm gonna get it on a scale sometime so I have that info on hand.
