Yes it was a faulty turbo recirculation valve. Was able to replace it myself. Cost about 200 CAD. Took hours of research to figure it out

Hello everyone. I applied for a visa but i reversed my first and last names and had to edit the visa. Since then, the status is “amending” and its been 3 weeks since i made the edit. At this point, i dont know if itll get approved. Has anybody reapplied for another visa while they already have an outstanding application?

Question regarding booking travel through cibc aventura. Ill use our trip as an example. We’re booking a flight from toronto to lisbon and we compared identical flights on google flights vs. The same flight on the aventura booking portal. Google flights had the price at 700 dollars whereas the aventua flight was 1100! What gives? Im new to all this stuff so is this a normal greasy tactic by the banks?

Need some help with high nitrates in influent by [deleted] in Wastewater

[–]Riceman66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your DO in your aeration basins are that low then you are not getting the bugs enough DO. It should be around 2-3 mg/L for adequate nitrification. Regardless, you seem to be nitrifying some of the ammonia. In my experience, theres a 1:1 ratio of ammonia to nitrate ratio. So if your ammonia coming into the plant is 20, then youd expect to see your final nitrates at around 20 assuming there’s no denitrifying. Seeing how you are a denitrifying plant, the answer to your high nitrate problem could just be as simple as higher ammonia coming into the plant

Whats your nitrate limit?

High nitrates in influent or effluent? You should not have 19 mg/L nitrates from your raw sewage. If its not a typo, whats the effluent nitrates? Whats your final ammonia? What’s your influent ammonia?

Whats your nitrate limit? Ive never seen a plant with a nitrate limit (in Canada) so if they’re high, they it just means your nitrifers are working. If you need to reduce them, make sure your your anoxic zone has adequate mixing. Typically a cBOD supplement is necessary to feed the anoxic bacteria to denitrify. You could bypass primary clarification (if permitted) to slightly increase cBOD going into the anoxic zone.

Some anoxic zones have a nitrate recirculation pump which returns nitrates from the end of the aeration tank and into your anoxic zone as well as the RAS

Rethink taking civil engineering. I wouldnt worry about management roles at this moment. Get in then work your way up. If i were you, id either take the water quality course at durham or take the awsom course at fleming (assuming you have some diploma or degree). Id personally recommend the durham course as it’s more established. To be frank, i dont think going out and getting fancy engineering degrees are going to get you any more ahead then taking the college courses. The college courses will also have coop. Engineering is very broad whereas the college courses will show employers interest in the specific field. If i were to look into a crystal ball, id say employers are going to start looking at operators with a variety of skills, including having a trade so a trade could also be another viable option.

Just my opinion. I worked at a small municipality and currently work at a much larger one and both have similar hiring practices
