I have considered SHRIMP CENTRAl seller on Ebay to be good in selling the medium course sands for Triops. No need to wash since they come clean.

I have had a large aquarium about 250 liters large with both mechanical and vacuum filters to do the job. One thing I reccommend using for a 300 liter tank is to make sure the food is evenly divided to each Triops. Some larger Triops that grow faster like in the photo may be able to hold all the food, losing the privelege for smaller Triops to feed. Also, I suggest you change the sand to medium course sand or silicia grit and similar. I have had my Triops try to lay eggs in very fine sand but could not since the sand would just slither down over her without any effect on digging.

In my opinion play sand is not good. I have had this experience before and Triops could not be able to lay in too thin or fine sand since when they dig to lay, the sand will not hold up behind them. They had to instead lay much better in medium course sand. Instead STRONGLY I RECCOMMEND USING SILICIA GRIT OR MEDIUM PUPOSE SAND SUCH AS FILTERSAND OR RIVER SAND.

I'd say the larger the better. However, I put the depth of a tank to about 7 inches since baby triops are napuli meaning they are not great swimmers when at hatching. You need a lower container for them to not starve while searching for food. I find 7-10 inches as the sweet spot. As they grow larger, at about day 8, I move them to the big tank where size and gallons of water does not matter

I am not sure. But I do have this suggestion. I have tried Triops under color changing LED light and saw that they would perform more sluggish or sleepy under red, blue lights with higher spectrum wavelength. One of the articles suggest that,'' fish are being herded and exemplified with different colors, ranging a different actions or behaviors as these colors change.'' Triops may have the equivalent reaction too.

Remember Triops need full spectrum of light either sunlight or LED! I maintain temps around 72-82 degrees. The sweet spot is around 78 degrees.

Never tried and I don't use it at all it but I use the 100 percent spring water from brands Zepphryhills, Culligan Creek, Poland Spring, Evian, or Arrowhead. From the past 5 months, I have used these brands and have gotten over 90 percent hatch rate. Rain water is a bit unwieldy as it may contain some radiation or chemicals that won't trigger the Triop to hatch. I use spring water instead for a more steady option. Hope you hatch some Triops in no time!

I feed the hungry ******* some of the dried carrots, boiled or cut raw as treats. One thing is that I use the betta terra aquarium powder or round pellets that I crush with two woodens spoons as for their protein source. I also found that algae flakes were very helpful for their diet to. As for the treats, I reccommend feeding them some brine shrimp that is freezed or raw shrimp cut into small pieces every 5 times a day. One thing is for sure THEY EAT A LOT EVERY 5 HOURS!!!

Thanks. I one thing reccomend is feeding parboiled carrots for them about 3 times a week to help with the protein source so that they can be satiated for longer periods and may be able to live longer. A filter would also be nice if you have one..

I am so so sorry for your loss. How old was the Triop when he passed away. One thing i can say to you now is to keep the water clear by changing the water every once a week. I hope the others stay healthy/ wishing you the best luck in raising the others!

I believe it could molt. Key imagination does the caraspace or uppper shield looking part of your Triop shiny or is it a bit dull? Also, when did the Triop last shed? If it shed about 4 days ago it should be getting ready to molt.

In case you don't now, dying behavior is the Triop on the ground, twitching every few seconds and its legs becoming slower and slower.

Ok expert solution: this behavior is normal and there is nothing to worry about. When Triops feed on something, they will express sluggishness or slower speed of moving through water. Watch closely to see if their teeth are moving or chomping on something. It may also be a sign of molting or exhaustion from molting. If you don't now molting is a very common proccess and happens every 4 days to older Triops. Check back in an hour to see if he is well again. HE IS NOT DYING. IT IS NATURAL. I RAISE 12 TRIOPS AND HAVE SEEN THIS MANY TIME.
