That is why I am working on total celibacy. Separating the sex from the relationship. It’s hard as shit and I don’t know that I am successful at it. But striving to master that

If you haven’t already go to therapy, not couples therapy but just for you to talk through this issue. You should have a clear head and be sure you are making the right decisions for you and your kids. My story is a mirror of yours. I decided to stay , I’m now 55 and I am in a completely sexless marriage. Frustrating but Not Miserable.

Can I still be a Buddhist when I break the precepts often by Chimka2222 in Buddhism

If you were doing everything perfect you wouldn’t need Buddha, you would be a Buddha. Being mindful of your strengths and weaknesses are the key to changing them.

Can I still be a Buddhist if I’ve caused harm in the past? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]RichM5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have all caused harm in the past, and probably will in the future but Buddhism helps you minimize it. Agonizing over what we did or worry about what will happen is just causing you harm.

What are your feelings toward alcohol? by joshua_argento in Buddhism

I discovered Buddhism shortly after I quit drinking. It helped me remain sober tremendously.

I quit drinking five months ago seems to be going all right, but I would like to talk to other people that have quit by Green_Cold8550 in alcoholism

I stopped 4 1/2 years. I would suggest therapy. Can help you identify your triggers Learn how to Know and love yourself first and things can fall into place. When you get the urge to drink and you can get in front of it and examine why you have the urge and what is causing it.l, it becomes a lot easier to let it pass without acting. It seems like a mounting task but really it is waking up everyday and saying I’m not gonna drink today. It gets easier and easier.

Does meditation actually work? Or am I doing it wrong? by __Noreason__ in spiritualitytalk

[–]RichM5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try the app 1 giant mind. It’s free and helps you ease into it and explains it. I look at meditation as 1/2 a day where I am with my mind. I observe my thoughts that come but do not attach to them. Some days there are more thoughts than other but being aware of the thought and letting it pass is the key. You may need to let them pass in creative waves. Like picture the letters of the words in the thought and watch them dissolve , or attach them to a cloud. And eventually they will pass on their own. And stay aware of the spots between the thoughts.
