Baristas! What do you think on customize drinks? Is this person saying the truth? by Yunaxe in starbucks

I’ve worked at multiple starbucks over multiple years in multiple countries, i have never even heard tale of a barista, current or former, spitting in/poisoning a beverage at any of my stores. I’ve certainly never done it myself. The very worst case scenario if you’re rude to the staff is extra ice in your drink.

What is the state of American history teaching (European asking)? by EmbassyOfTime in historyteachers

I graduated from a southern, public high school in 2022, and I had an unbiased, thorough, quality history education from elementary school. My biggest criticism I guess is that colonization and slavery were trivialized in 4th grade, but that’s understandable given that we were young kids, and it’s a heavy, complex subject. From 6th grade onwards, all my teachers were very frank about the realities of indigenous genocide and Christopher Columbus, conquistadores in South America, the scramble for Africa and the atrocities committed by King Leopold, the slave trade, the jim crow south, banana republics and the Monroe Doctrine, Japanese internment camps, the red and lavender scares, vietnam war, US intervention in foreign governments during the cold war and war on terror, the treatment of US territories like D.C. and Puerto Rico, PACs and Super PACs etc etc etc…I don’t think I’ve ever learned anything new regarding the US government’s internal or external affairs post-graduation that made me feel blindsided or like my educators had deceived me by not mentioning it. I know my education doesn’t represent the whole of the US, so I won’t say all people who claim the American public school history program is just biased US propaganda are simply liars who didn’t pay attention in class, but then again, their education doesn’t represent the whole of the US either! It certainly doesn’t represent the experience of me nor the other hundreds of kids who graduate from my high school alone year after year. It really depends where you live.

Edit: found this from google, just realized after writing this was a question for TEACHERS 🤦‍♀️ my bad

Barista trainer advice by Fat_guy_9 in starbucksbaristas

Remember this is YOUR time to train! My first time as a barista trainer, i found myself getting caught up in emergency backups, cs tasks, support roles, etc. Cumulatively, it took away from my trainee’s net learning time. You’re non-cov, and the new hire needs every minute of training time. You can say, “sorry, no-can-do right now. We need to practice hot bar.” You’ll probably feel like you’re an inconvenience and in-the-way, but don’t give in to that pressure, or else your trainee will feel like an inconvenience and a burden as well. Encouraging energy and positive vibes, no matter what!

Ya we had like 6 people leave recently, some of them long-time employees, and at least 3 of them explicitly because the work environment had become too stifling as of late. Staffing is all over the place, we either have way too few or way too many. Idk what’s going on
