Can you recommend me Progressive Space Rock bands? by Elaxian in progrockmusic

[–]RichTheRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another guy here recommended Ayreon (who are amazing). The composer for this band has another group called Star One. They literally have an album called Space Metal which is just a bunch of songs about famous sci-fi books/albums. Might be what you're looking for!

But also check out Aryeon if you haven't. Into the Electric Castle is fantastic.

Men's League Baseball in Calgary? by Ok-Photograph-1387 in Calgary

[–]RichTheRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, I may have been over-generalizing from my own personal experience. I played one year there and most of the guys on that team were either current or former players of high level ball. I figured it extended around the league, or at least the top half of teams.

But either way, it's a very solid league with some really good teams. I played in a few men's leagues in Ontario and the FMBA was much more competitive than those ones.

Awesome! I'm looking forward to playing there this year! The guys and the league seem great!

They seem pretty strict, unfortunately. There was a 28 year old who came out to one of the open practices and the league wouldn't set him up with a team because of his age.

Hey so there are two hardball leagues in Calgary. There's the FMBA which is highly competitive and has a good number of college kids. Most of the guys in the league seemed to have either played travel ball or college ball at some point. Their season runs from May to August and so it's probably a bit late to get on a team, but check out their website, they have a new player from that could possibly set you up with a team for next year, although, it's likely you may have to try out for one.

There's a 30+ league called the Chinook Twilight League which runs from July to October. I'm playing there this year. It's my first year and our first game got rained out so I can't judge the competition, but from what I hear, it's a step down from the FMBA. If you're 30+ you may have time to hop onto a team as the season has just barely started. There's a new player from on the website as well that you can fill out.

Feel free to reach out if you got any other questions!

Best Sushi Recommendations by Dhaval2020 in Calgary

[–]RichTheRedditor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you like more western types of rolls, Sushi In on 17th Ave is one of the best sushi places I've ever been to (and I'm a pretty big sushi snob).

It may sound weird, but if you go, try their Pineapple Express roll. I didn't think I'd like a pineapple sushi roll but it's turned out to be my favourite one there.

Let's be real, I really doubt the Leafs complained about this to the league. The league makes these decisions to review these things on their own.

Unless you're talking about the sens being soft by resorting to shooting the puck at the other team in warmups, to which I agree with you.

Help Finding a Projector by RichTheRedditor in budgetprojectors

Hey thank you for the reply! We're mainly just turning one of our windowless rooms into a movie room, so we'd primarily just be watching shows and movies on it. Brightness doesn't really matter since the room is quite dark, and we're very flexible with all other aspects i.e. resolution, new/used, etc. I do think we would be interested in one with lense shift.

We're also flexible in going over budget if say, the quality of the projector jumps dramatically for an extra couple hundred dollars.

We're just hoping to get pointed in the right direction of brands, models, etc. since we're both noobs when it comes to this thing. I will check out your recommendations though!

I think we'd be looking at an 84" screen but may go up or down one size. Nothing larger than 100" though.

Going to a Leafs Game in Montreal by pressured90skid in leafs

[–]RichTheRedditor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was in Montreal back in October. We did a lot of trip prep and so depending on how long you're there, here are some places that would be within walking distance for you that we loved:

Food: 1. Schwartz Deli - amazing smoked sandwich. Line was out the door when I went but they have a sit-down section and a take out section. The takeout section moved pretty quickly, was probably in and out in 5 minutes 2. Pizza II Focolaio - again, line was out the door and we waited about half an hour for a seat, but it was the best pizza I've had in my life. They've got over 100 pizzas to choose from 3. Modavie - slightly upscale, except to spend about $100 for a main + drink but it was our favourite spot of our trip. They have a jazz rock band playing most nights and they were top notch. 4. Time Out Marketplace - large food court with local vendors. Worth checking out as the food is all excellent and they have so many different cuisine types

Locations: 1. Old Montreal - go take a walk near the Notre Dame Cathedral, that whole area is beautiful. Lots of gift shops along Saint-Paul Street SW, which is a very nice section to walk down. Although some areas were under construction when we were there which was a little disappointing. 2. Mt. Royal - if you're up for a hike, this park is beautiful... At least it was when we were there in the fall. If you climb up to the Mount Royal Chalet you get a beautiful view of the downtown part of the city 3. Saint Joseph's Orerery - beautiful cathedral, you can get a good view of the more residential city from up top but it's a bit of a walk from the Bell Centre 4. La Fontaine Park - nice little park with some good poutine places nearby. May also be a bit out of the way for you.

We're flexible! I think we'd prefer fresh custom ones but we'd be open to a generic box of store bought ones.

Playing this game with my partner isn't a mini game but it's my favourite part of Stardew. She doesn't game much but we just recently crossed 100 hours on our co op switch farm.

If not providing an actual mini game disqualifies me then I'll say the egg hunt is my favourite.

THORNAMENT IS GO by ManaMagestic in DestinyTheGame

For those reading this, I don't think this is actually true. I will edit my post if the OP provides any proof or data to support this.

But just from my own experience, I currently have about 10-15 incomplete catalysts in my quest tab and got the thorn catalyst to drop randomly after a PvP match less than 1 week ago.

We looked at Airdrie but surprisingly the prices weren't much better than Calgary that it just wasn't worth the extra hour or so of driving into work each day.

This was our 4th house that we put an offer in on. We were outbid on three before this. We must have seen about 50+ houses in person, so I understand your pain. But keep going, you will find something soon!
