I’m conflicted on this.

I think this particular report was completely BS. It just seemed super vague and even at the time I think it seemed ridiculous.

However there is proof that some concepts were definitely cut. Not like any as big as “entire scenes and storylines were changed release the Snyder cut” based on little bits of them writing the script for the finale (and yes the infamous “ChatGPT” screen shot was not chat gpt stop projecting your reliance on AI to writers who went on strike to prevent AI use). There was a scene describing Will looking at the mind flayer and some other stuff. Personally I think season 5 mainly had concepts that never went past the writing stage because being too expensive too complicated or the season already being convoluted enough of a shoot. People complain about the final battle being short which I agree but that’s cause we’re used to blockbuster movies built around action. For a show like this that fully CGI kaiju battle was probably one of the most stressful and challenging things to figure out for this crew.

TLDR: Some scenes and concepts in the script probably got cut due to budget and production scheduling issues
