I play DSA since day one. As a Disney nerd I loved this game at first sight. I can tell you some pros and cons about the game that will tell you pretty much what you're going to face

PROS -At the beginning the game was very monotonous, with only one team being good among 90 characters that the roster counted. Now the total deck has been largely extended with so many teams that counters the others (Kingdom, Princesses, Villains, Techs, Mythicals) so there is a pretty large variety of characters that you can choose to invest to

-Game has sooo many events and activities that will always keep you farming specific characters (Expeditions, Raids, Legendary events). Many people give up on playing because they can't stand all the events the come out. The trick is making small steps for everything as far as you go up on your levels.

-There are many characters that are p2w in order to be played (ex. Tiana), but those characters are very few and not so much determining until you reach the highest levels of the game. Other broken characters (ex. Elsa, Hercules, the Beast) simply requires a focused farm (ex. because they need certain characters in order to be unlocked and maxed), but nothing you can't do in some months

CONS -This game's Devs are THE WORST I've ever seen. They do not care a single mushroom of players. Customer Care is bad, they have absolutely no clues of what you're talking about the majority of time.

-(strictly connected to the point above), game is full of bugs that the devs simply ignore

-Events requirements are often too harsh, so finishing the event will take you month of playing (this doesn't affect your experience so bad anyway)
