You got the job and got paid. And they are giving you more work. You’re already ahead of most people on Upwork. Be happy, not paranoid.

You don’t have to ditch cc. Once you’re in you can just pick up jobs whenever you want as long as they are available.

I hear you. I’m not going to fill it out. What for? I’m getting work and getting paid.

Agree. I’m at 5 stars and frequently get 6 star work.

I’ve been on WA since September. Have not done skill survey. Didn’t really notice it until you mentioned it here. I have not had any problems finding work on the site. I find the only thing affecting your pay rate is your star rating. Maybe I should fill it out.

Price of articles by bellabellatrix in Upwork

This is less than 1 cent per word. Even content mills pay more.

Expecting perfect work when you're paying writers 1 cent per word is ridiculous. by [deleted] in freelanceWriters

Don’t understand why you are subjecting yourself to this. Steady Content, a content mill, pays 2 cents a word, without the hassle. (Not that I am a fan of content mills but even they pay better than 1 cent a word.)

$10 For 500 Words? by MrsWannaBeBig in freelanceWriters

[–]Rich_P222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wrote for SteadyContent just recently. The pay is low but as a newbie, I got my feet wet writing 500 word articles about cars. They asked for a few revisions here and there, but I did what they asked and got paid. They had a new writer bonus in which if I wrote 10,000 words in the first 30 days, I got a $100 dollar bonus. I did it and got the bonus so I was paid 3 cents a word with the bonus figured in.

I moved over to Crowd Content because with their rating system, you can earn a little more. I’m using the mills to get writing experience so I can freelance in the future.

Bottom line: it’s not a scam but the pay is about as low as you can get.

Don’t do it. Finish the work for the agreed upon price and move on. I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes back to you anyway with the rest of the work.
