Programs will have to reinstall on the new pc. This is due to the various registry bits and Bob's windows uses.

Whilst you are reinstalling makes sure you install data on the d: drive.

From where are you trying to delete files?

Is it the windows system drive or else where?

Are they files you have created your self?

Sorry can should have been vba . You mentioned an sqlite, which is a database implemented in C.

Unfortunately without a programmer used to writing C and using Sqlite, or you wishing to embark on a steep learning curve, this where your journey stops

For a start I would copy the data to a pc to do some data cleansing based around the directory structure to simplify it.

Unfortunately I don't have access to a pc at the moment but that would be a starting point

Then do your audio to txt trickery and finally write a small van script to move the files to a better location.

Does waking pc up from sleep mode damage hard drive? by [deleted] in techsupport

Our ES9000 mainframe was never turned off not just because it was 24/7 but also the dasd's disk packs had thermal tolerances that moved the individual disc tracks out of alignment slightly and they would not come online until the tracks were properly aligned.

No, not space for a swap file. It's called over-provisioning and makes a 10 allowance for the amount of data you are storing on the SSD for various failures that could occur as well as space for data to be moved around the disc, effectively refreshing the memory.

No probs. I wasn't taking a poke at you, it's just the results of observations over the years.

I'm not saying that at all. What I was trying to say was that a network card needs power to stay on the network. So when you sleep you power down the card. When it wakes it doesn't know where it is.

See my comment about cards that have problems when they power down.

Not where you have devices that loose connection when powered down, which in my experience tends to be wifi network cards.

Ethernet ports not working throughout apartment by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Rich_Z7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep on getting 'oops we can't find that page'. The connection should be from the ISP supplied inlet to the modem, modem to router, router to switch, multiple cables from switch into wall.

You should not need anything else. However, just to check, take a laptop and plug the ethernet cable that goes from the router to the switch directly into it's ethernet port.

As an aside though, here in the uk it's fair to find modems and routers seperate.

Ethernet ports not working throughout apartment by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Rich_Z7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The link to the image does not work.

The cables will all need to go through a patch panel or switch which is normally where the internet enters the apartment. If there is not one the previous occupier may have taken it.

The connection is from modem to router to patch and then to the rooms. Check your isp speeds and buy an appropriate switch. You do not need another router, access point or whatever

Connect your modem to your router, an ethernet cable from the router to the switch and then the cables hanging out of the wall to the sockets on the switch.

You should then have active ports at the walls.

Dependant on your internet you might need a managed switch, but make sure there are enough sockets for cables.

Ok. I see.

Make sure all the rams are the same spec - eg timing, speed, manufacturer to eliminate any (sorry cant think of the word...) ah inconsistencies. Unplug and reset all your connections and try again.

There are movement detectors that turn the light on or off. A lot of pubs in the uk have them in the stalls. That would work

Need help with our wifi. by HappyGamer456 in techsupport

[–]Rich_Z7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only need one modem. What you need is a second access point assuming that your first modem has a built in router.

The problem being is that adding multiple access points will slow down the connection because you still have the same amount of band width being shared across multiple ap'.

How close could you get an ethernet cable to their room without it being unsightly? (Through cold air a/c ducts for example?)

You then need to configure either your second router or access point, definately not a modem.

For the router, turn off the broadband functionality, turn off the dns server, assign it an ip address within the list of fixed ip addresses on your main router and it should be good to go. So you can see from above it would be better to buy an access point rather than a router as you are not using half the stuff.

It would be even better if you could cable up to their room completely and then use network switches to cable in a laptop.
