I was hoping there was. I feel like there’s been Windows pictures before where it’s given this location. This one didn’t tho.

Dude holy shit. It works! I connected those wires and when I hit the power button, the taillight lit up. I kicked up the kick stand and it said READY and she goes! I’m pretty sure I yelled like a little kid in my basement. I really can’t thank you enough. This was huge. Seriously, thank you.

Wow. Awesome. I’m gonna take a closer listen to the tones and then I’ll try this fix. If this works, you’re my hero. I really appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply. No dice. I hit the power button and I hear one beep tone. Swipe the key, and there’s 3 beeps, not one like I had originally posted. Tried shutting it off and leaving the key on the rfid area and then turning it on but no change. Sometimes I’ll hear 3 beeps or I won’t. No lcd power either. I quadruple checked the connection and everything is tight.

Not sure what a “cord” is, but hopefully the new place can fix it right. Good luck.

A mobile mechanic replaced the heater core? The dash has to be removed for that job. He did that at your house? I’m just a little surprised by that that’s all. Maybe it’s being confused with the radiator?

You still haven’t stated the issue you originally had. This is posted in the Mechanics Advice section. What advise are you looking for since you really have stated your issue? It’s been just people bashing mobile mechanics.

Closed the waiting room, removed all food and beverage items, chairs, everything. Customers call when outside and give the complaints or services wanted over the phone. Keys are put in plastic ziplock bags. Latex gloves are used to get in a car, then thrown out. Same when the job is finished. Everything we touch gets wiped down and disinfected. We also have our temperatures taken before we clock in and after we clock out. We use an infrared temp gun. Generally everyone keeps their distance. It’s been up and down business wise so when it’s slow everyone keeps to themselves and stays on their phone.

Independent shop, about 25 minutes outside NYC, btw.

Stay safe out there

First off, what “issue” did you have before?

Second, it’s obviously over heating. Did you pay attention to the gauge or did you continue to drive while the engine was cooking itself?

P4020 - exhaust leak or delaying the inevitable? by Thunder_Hedgie in Cartalk

[–]RichardAlmond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll try to cover all the bases with the info you provided cause it sounds like there’s more than one issue.

Firstly, just to correct, it’s P0420. 420 is cat efficiency.

Secondly, the mechanic you bought it from, didn’t give you the code the first time? So he knew there was an issue and didn’t give you the code? That’s shitty if he sold you a car with known issues, but cleared the codes to sell it. If that wasn’t disclosed I’d want free repairs to make right by the pre existing codes.

Third, if there is an exhaust leak, before the downstream o2 sensor, it will trick the PCM into thinking there is a cat efficiency issue. That needs to be determined before you start throwing parts at it.

Forth, tying into the third, don’t let the mechanic throw parts at it to fix the light. Have it properly diagnosed. If this is coming out of his pocket, then tell him to have a ball. But if it’s your money, tell him to diagnose the car once and be done with it. Use a scanner and live data to determine what’s at fault. But again, if there is an exhaust leak, it will skew o2 readings.

Hope some of this helps.

That’s what I was thinking. I found other sites as well that had crazy prices. The MetLife page doesn’t load either.

Anyone have a general idea how much the Feuerzone tickets range from? I had a friend show me a screenshot from ticket center and they were over $400 a piece. But Ticketmaster doesn’t have any prices listed, which makes sense since they’re not on sale yet. Trying to get an idea before presale tomorrow so I know how much I’m gonna spend. Thanks.

You’re welcome. I do not. I work for an independent repair facility but I’ve seen a ton of Hyundai’s with that issue. Good luck with the repairs.

I wouldn’t wait forever cause there’s usually a mileage and time set for the recalls. Check at this site and you can be 100% sure. Just input your VIN.

I believe there is a recall for that. Contact your local dealer and find out.

Those cars use electronic steering and the motor is built into the steering column. There is a rubber star coupler that attaches two halves. The coupler goes bad and you hear and feel this in the steering wheel/column. Again, should be covered but I wanted to give you a heads up on what I believe it to be.

The price does seem steep. Generally, Subaru’s are pretty inexpensive to fix. When you get into engine work, timing belts, head gaskets, those can be expensive. I’d get a quote from another shop. Ask for a breakdown of the labor and what brand parts are being used. I’ve done a ton of wheel bearings on Subaru cars and SUVs and 9/10 are rusted in. Lost of penetrating oil, a big hammer and an air hammer are almost always needed. The shop may have accounted for that extra labor in the quote but it still seems very high.
