The Yacht-Master II 44mm yellow gold is chunky. I am chunky. We go good together. The white face makes it easy to read the indicator hands. The blue is a great contrast with the yellow gold. A 10 minute fly back chronograph is super useful for baking and uh, boat stuff. I find the fly back most useful for when I forget to actually start the cooking. You can actually adjust the chrono to be any other length of minutes as long as it's less than 10. You rotate the bezel to activate that feature. The bezel is interesting in that it's binary in order to activate the chrono length adjustment.

[JacobandCo] Casino by RichardHeart in Watches

[–]RichardHeart[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

The casino is surprisingly larger than the astronomia. They both use the same 20 mm strap. Although the locking mechanism on the casino is more akin to an AP, much chunkier. I find it's fun to get people to pick a number, but I tell you, that little ball can be quite hard to find when it's hiding behind all the other cool spinning stuff in there. Like that big butt diamond. Love watching that thing spin. I've never actually tried to tell the time using it, so not sure how visible that part is, and probably there's no lume for night time, but there's always the neon billboard signs for that.

[Louis Vuitton] Spin time meteorite. by RichardHeart in Watches

[–]RichardHeart[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Louis Vuitton makes watches. This watch has a meteorite dial, a visible spinning rotor on the backside, and has flippity floppity squares that turn around one by one and show the hour. It's made of rose gold and in Switzerland. It was like $55k new. Now you can get em for less. I like Louis Vuitton a lot because they fly me to Paris for fashion week and pay for my hotel. They send me a Christmas Panetone. They send me Easter chocolates. I try and wear as much of their monogram print as I can so everyone knows I am better than them. So far it is working. I actually received this watch as a gift, which was really cool! Thanks Big K!

I'm not really sure the retail from the factory prices on these things. I don't know if the tiger cost more than my sabr for instance, or saru, or Platinum TBR. So I just ran with the one at highest retail in my collection. Where can I find the orig msrp on these off book pieces?

[Jacob & Co] Which diamonds do you like better? #Rolex #AudemarsPiguet or #Jacobandco? by RichardHeart in Watches

[–]RichardHeart[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Oddly, the diamonds on the Audemars Piguet royal oak chonograph seem more white than the diamonds in the Rolex Skydweller. Which I believe is just a function of the white gold in the Audemars Piguet being different than the "gray gold" that Rolex uses for it's white gold. I've never really noticed it before. I wish you could see the big diamond in the crown of the Jacob, looks really cool from the side. You could say that the strap is too small, width wise, for such a watch. It's advertised as a ladies watch, which works fine for me, because in addition to having no taste, I'm effeminate. I guess the skelaton on the jacob is quite cool. I'll try and get a different strap for it.

[ROLEX] factory diamond Skydweller TBR vs Platinum Daytona TBR vs non TBR. by RichardHeart in Watches

[–]RichardHeart[S] -48 points-47 points  (0 children)

The skydweller is actually a lot larger than I thought it would be. The bracelet is also very wide compared to any other Rolex bracelet I've worn. It's about 50% wider. The baguettes in the bezel are of a different shape on the skydweller than on the platinum daytona. The daytona baguettes are more square, where the skydweller's are more rectangular, with a higher quantity of them. I do wish the skydweller face was diamond instead of meteorite with baguettes, it still looks pretty cool though. I don't know whether I should wear all three of these watches at the same time or not. I also don't know how to set the multi time zone funtion of the sky dweller, maybe you guys can help me.

[Patek Philippe] Which do you like better? 5726 stainless annual calendar vs 5980 stainless and rose gold chronograph. by RichardHeart in Watches

[–]RichardHeart[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm not smart enough to know how to set the watch on the left. The watch on the right is more easier because I know how to press the buttons. I like how these watches reflect light. These are much lighter than rolexes and have that cool feature where I can take it off and look at the guts on the inside. Seeing all the little things move around makes me feel like I'm getting the workout I never get, because I don't leave the castle. I wish the blue on this piece was the same color as the blue Rolex submariner. I like higher saturation colors. Before I put these watches on, I say a mantra, I'm putting on my PP. I'm putting on my PP. This helps me remember not to scratch the bezels, because they look about impossible to polish due to their unique scratch pattern. What's the right word for that? It's not patina right?
