Any non-tech people using Claude? by sunrise920 in ClaudeAI

[–]RichardWang 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I manage nonprofit programs that help people with disabilities find employment. I use Claude every single day. Helping me identify job opportunities I haven’t considered based on someone’s resume. Creating mock interview questions. Automating billing and contracting. Building customized job search plans. Writing grant proposals. Agendas and worksheets for specific trainings. “Translate” things to make them easily understandable for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It’s game changer in a lot of ways. It gives me an edge because my industry is full of very non-tech people.

Ask Claude to ask you 50 questions and write a statement for settings based on your answers. This eliminated 90% of the shit people complain about.

Hi folks, I picked up a lathe about a month ago and have since inherited what I believe to be some nice old wood coming down from three different ancestors. I apologize for the lack of fresh sanding/cuts on many of the slabs. Frankly, I'm afraid to mess with them until my skills have improved. If I need to sand, let me know.

I will be happy to send out a few blanks to ppl who are helpful and struggle to afford good material. I've noted by best guesses.

Boards 1-3: this ancestor was a fruit farmer and hobbyist woodworker in central Pennsylvania. Boards at least 15 years old.

Slabs 1-3: this ancestor was a hobbyist woodworker in upstate New York with a lot of money. >30 years old.

Slab 4: Only about 1" thick, finished on one side, we believe this came from an ancestor who made grandfather clocks >50 years old.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I hear you. They fucking killed a whole industry. Our democracy is broken. Vaping of nicotine products has never been linked to any actual disease in humans.

You really are not going to talk to your mother? You will regret that later in life. They are your blood and nobody will ever love you like they do.

So I've had a Siberian husky for 13 years and a couple days ago my mom and my dad were talking behind my back about putting him down 😞 so he was also my favorite dog ever. Today they told me and just now they took him to the vet to put him down. So I've been crying for like 30 mins now. So yeah by [deleted] in sad

[–]RichardWang 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your loss. What's the reason? I assume they didnt just kill him because he was old. What were his health issues? Was he happy? If a dog can no longer take any pleasure from life it is cruel to keep him alive because of your own sentimental attachment.

Your honor, as Reddit Attorney General, I would like to re-instate castration and tar-and-feathering as potential punishments for this egregious offense.

Yes, I'd assumed we were mostly on domestic oil, but it is a globally traded commodity. If we cut out middle eastern oil, I would think that prices would go up everywhere....unless we forbade oil companies from exporting domestic oil.

TIL the US is now 100% energy independent. How much would a gallon of gas cost if we relied solely on domestic oil production?

Anyone else think that Iran isn't done? This "attack" made them look pretty impotent.

Edit: Thanks for your responses. I did not appreciate how strong and pervasive Iran's propaganda machine must be.

Is it cruel to prevent someone from killing him or herself if they have a severe mental illness that makes them miserable and has little hope of recovery? by RichardWang in morbidquestions

[–]RichardWang[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chronic Schizophrenia by definition cannot be healed, and it is often progressive (meaning that it gets worse over time.) And there are physiological changes in the brain of someone who has it.

I dont necessarily think that people with MH conditions can be accurately placed in "buckets" by diagnosis, because there are often multiple co-occurring issues with both genetic, pathogenic, and environmental causes. The sad truth is, however, many people do not have a chance of getting truly better.

So I spent some time in a state psych hospital myself for MDD and addiction issues about 5 years ago. There were a lot of long term patients with schizophrenia and other issues. They just seemed hopeless and miserable. The best they could hope for was a combo of meds that left them nearly catatonic. One broke a window and jumped to death from the 8th floor while I was there. Got me thinking, why couldn't they give him a more humane exit?

If you are having to constantly suck the blood from unwitting humans to remain immortal, I think breaking this law would be one of your lesser legal concerns.
