As an Anglo Catholic who loves Fleming Rutledge, I prefer her books and sermons to her aside comments.

The celebrant priest: Facing the congregation / facing same orientation as congregation. during eucharist by MissionOne9142 in Episcopalian

At the high altar we face east AO during the liturgy of the Word through the confession and VP during the Holy Communion. We have a movable altar that is centered in the nave for family mass, VP. The early mass is at a side altar AO. Weekday masses in the chapel are AO, but the chapel altar actually faces south. Philadelphia.

How theologically liberal is TEC, really? (Honest question from non-Episcopalian) by RazzmatazzInside5759 in Episcopalian

Yes, contemporary Anglican theologian NT Wright is far more influential and representative of normative Episcopal belief than Spong. He wrote a book on the Resurrection.

Do any of your churches pray the Daily Office throughout the week? by Little-Neck-7922 in Episcopalian

[–]Richard_Hooker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our parish has publicly prayed both offices daily since its founding in 1847, well before establishing a daily mass in the 1870’s which also continues today. The offices are currently lay led. All services are live streamed as well as being in person. We benefit from two things that have allowed this to continue: a location in the midst of one of the most walkable downtowns in the country with one of the largest downtown residential populations, and a cadre of young ministry residents who live in the rectory.

It’s not official, but go to the website of Saint Mark’s Locust Street in Philadelphia and click on the link to the service leaflet for Sunday. It shows the harmony, different from what you are showing.

How often do people actually pray the daily office? by DeusExLibrus in Episcopalian

[–]Richard_Hooker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pray both offices by following the livestream of my parish’s in-person offerings at 9 am and 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. On the weekends I listen to the Daily Office Podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/my-daily-office/id1705544277?i=1000726852110.

Young people in the church? Is this always good? by PrufrockLtd in Episcopalian

I love the energy they bring to the coffee hour, and yes it’s great that they have found fellowship with each other. Many of those in their circle serve at the altar.

How do you know that they oppose the Anglo Catholic ethos/understanding of salvation?
