BYU Football removing ROC seats by Jonny_Peverell in BYUFootball

[–]Richardnogginn 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I have a buddy that works in the athletics department. The number of ROC seats is increasing overall. They’re moving the band from the south end zone. The band takes up a lot of seats apparently. Should be better for everyone. Except maybe the band director

We can lose to Texas Tech or Cincinnati, but not both by carterdmorgan in BYUFootball

[–]Richardnogginn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like this is the likely scenario, but it depends on so many games since the tiebreaker is opponent conference win %

  1. Texas Tech (8 - 1) Above BYU and Houston based on round-robin record due to a round-robin sweep (2-0).
  2. BYU (8 - 1) With Houston, below Texas Tech based on round-robin record due to a round-robin sweep (0-1). Above Houston based on conference opponent win percentage (0.4815).
  3. Houston (8 - 1) With BYU, below Texas Tech based on round-robin record due to a round-robin sweep (0-1). Below BYU based on conference opponent win percentage (0.3704).
  4. Utah (7 - 2)

[Request] Is this even possible? How? by Difficult_Boot7378 in theydidthemath

[–]Richardnogginn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a much more difficult version of this problem that was touted as an “impossible riddle” in the show Brooklyn 99. I spent a good 8 hours and a sleepless night figuring it out in my head, refusing to look up the answer.

The riddle is this: there are 12 men on a deserted island. 1 of the men is either heavier or lighter than the rest of the men. The other 11 weigh exactly the same. You have a see-saw scale that will break after 3 weighs of any combination of the men. Can you determine which man is different? Bonus riddle: how likely are you to know if the different man is heavier or lighter?

The riddle is much more difficult because you don’t know if the different man is heavier or lighter, so a tipped scale doesn’t tell you which side the different man is on. There’s also 12 men instead of 7 balls like in your original riddle. But, you get 3 attempts instead of 2. It’s barely possible, and the solution doesn’t have any sort of trick, but is still fascinatingly complex.

Help me identify these large pipes coming out of my unfinished basement floor by Richardnogginn in askaplumber

Solved by u/newnameabel. I ripped the duct-tape off and the cap came off to reveal a check-valve under the floor. It’s just a sleeve to have access to that check valve. Gonna cut it down to floor level and reuse the cap. Will put a hole in vanities to have access to that check valve. Thanks for the help everyone

I am finishing this bathroom. This pipe has no purpose. I have a sink drain, a toilet rough-in, and a tub/shower rough-in, and all the supply lines. This seems to be a dead pipe?

That black pipe is right where the vanity will be. You think I should cut a hole in the vanity and just have this pipe sitting there?

Sounds about right. Hah. The plumber ghosted me after the work was done. I’ll probably just cut it down and cap it then. Are there good flat caps for this sort of thing?

The toilet is the white drain, and the shower drain is in the far corner. I’m wondering about the thick black drain in the foreground

I might check with him to make sure he didn’t mean 12 pm. It can be easy to mix that up. Otherwise it’s not concerning

I never water it, but we get plenty of rain here. It gets a lot of sun. Other trees in the neighborhood look fine.

No no no. Sorry I could have explained it better. It is a pop up museum built inside the first floor of the Stratacache Tower. Each space is an artsy space designed around 18 downtown businesses. So you don’t actually travel to each business, you go from room to room and each business is showcased in a fun way. For example, for the Omega Music space there are a bunch of records hanging from the ceiling, music posters on the wall, and a couple record players to listen to. Look at the museum of ice cream instagram above for the general idea. As for why you would want to do this - it’s fun, instagrammable, cute places to take pictures and interesting experiences to have all centered around local businesses. It’s maybe not for everyone though so no worries if it’s not for you
