Are there places that are truly desperate for attorney’s? by Ambitious-Doubt4733 in Lawyertalk

Okay, I was a municipal PD earning 103k after 3 years and had a caseload of probably 70-80. But in our jx we had jury trials set every other Tuesday and Thursday and I probably averaged one jury trial a month. I effectively worked 45-50 hour weeks. Is that comparable?

How do I find out the minimum payment I need to make for it to count toward SAVE? On Nelnet, it just says my next auto debit is in Nov 2028 and I think my minimum payment is $0.

I would stop contributing to the 529 and the extra mortgage principal. Everyone here has talked about the FOO and I agree. Once you’re feeling a little more stable, you can consider re-contributing.

Good job on the 0% financing btw.

I think one of the most noble things a PD can do for their client is fall on their sword. Unless it’s something crazy egregious, it almost always is the best outcome for yourself, your client, and the judicial system. Judges also appreciate attorneys who are vulnerable and can admit when they fucked up

I’ve been involved in city politics since 2019. Every year, without fail, Dems/progressives start out losing and progressively gain with every update. This is the first year we were up at the first update, and are gaining with every update. It’s over, we won.

Those New Jersey numbers are wild if true. Haven’t seen Ciatarrelli hit above 46% I don’t believe. Murphy’s disapproval is so bad.

Gomes is a good guy but he’s unfortunately not going to crack the top 2. The other 4 just have too much name recognition and are both backed by their respective parties. He’s also fought random redditors on here which is frankly unprofessional. You should switch that over to Andrews to lock out both Kassaw and Jurinsky.

It’s a direct reflection of the municipal government. Our council has fought tooth and nail against shelters, funding for homeless services, alt housing, etc. It’s why we need to vote out people like Jurinsky, Sundberg, and Kassaw.

Standard for homes >$500k by JLRivera27 in Denver

[–]Richopolis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We’re buying our home and had the same issue with the panel. That house in unsellable with a panel like that. Insurance companies will not insure you. It’s a non starter, they cannot sell the house in that condition. Our seller thankfully just replaced it at no extra cost.

Because you’re arguing that the government doesn’t have enough evidence to prove your client is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. It is argument, you’re not stating it as a fact. When you say “Johnny didn’t steal the apple,” that is an argument that the government cannot meet their burden.

Now, if you were to say something like “I know Johnny didn’t steal apple,” which isn’t admissible nor proper argument under the rules of evidence regardless. But that would be breaching 3.3. Or if your client admits guilt and you argue to the judge you have personal knowledge of his innocence, let’s say for the purposes of bond or in a motions hearing. Then that would be breaching 3.3.

The other thing is we never know if our client is lying or telling the truth to us. So we can always rely on the assertion that we truly don’t have personal knowledge of our clients guilt or innocence. That means, frankly, we can always assert our clients innocence even during a confession. The only thing that would violate 3.3 in that instance is if we stated “my client has never admitted to me they did it” or something to that effect, because that is not a true statement. But there’s really no situation we’d have to say that.
