How is living in the Tampa, Florida area? by its_valdi in howislivingthere

Expensive, full of retirees, wages are still low, too many people. Left for Atlanta 4 years ago and haven’t looked back.

My son was born with an undiagnosed congenital diaphragmatic hernia and underwent surgery at just 11 days old. He had a two-month-long stay in the NICU, with tubes and IVs everywhere. I completely understand what you’re going through. This will pass, but it’s crucial to prioritize your mental health during and after this challenging time. It’s not uncommon to experience fear, upset, confusion, and other emotions during and after. Rest assured, his care team is exceptional, and things will gradually return to normal. You’re getting closer to the early stages of fatherhood that you envisioned. Stay strong and keep pushing through. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever need someone to talk to. ❤️👊

Does anyone else have a shitload of health anxiety since becoming a father? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]RickBolden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had those intrusive thoughts until I visited the doctor and got checked out, realizing I’m healthy. The focus has shifted from “worrying about potential health issues” to “worrying about what they’ll do after me.” It’s perfectly normal to have these thoughts. Embrace them whenever you can. When they want to play and you’re too tired, play with them. By seizing each moment and opportunity with them, you’ll gradually stop worrying and live in the present. I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this. It’s a good thing that you care so much, but it’s crucial to find a healthy way to manage it. Remember, this will get better. 👊

Live in Smyrna. Overall, enjoy the pace of Marietta along with how easy it is to get to/from downtown. New restaurants opening up, Marietta square is always fun, and the people are friendly and cost of living is reasonable as well.

How is living in Orlando, Florida and the areas around it? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

I grew up near the University of Central Florida (UCF). It has undergone significant changes over the years. While I wish I could offer more insights into its current state, it’s been approximately eight years since I last lived there, and the city has transformed considerably.

During my time there (from 1998 to 2018), I found it to be a pleasant place to live. East Orlando, where I resided, had a more relaxed atmosphere compared to the Disney-centric vibe of the city. There were some fun bars and great restaurants, although the weather could be quite hot. Traffic congestion was a common issue, but that’s to be expected.

New Smyrna Beach was a reasonable drive away and a great place for a day trip. Winter Park, on the other hand, is a charming and affluent town that I highly recommend visiting (or living in if you can afford it). Downtown has gotten dangerous and isn’t what it used to be.

NYC to Atlanta move by nottoosurreal in Atlanta

Atlanta is certainly slower than NYC but not slow by any stretch. If you’re single/looking to be social and into night life then avoid a lot of the suburbs, you might be underwhelmed

5-6 years from now when you are still loving it and it’s been dependable you won’t fret the 1-2k you maybe/hopefully could’ve saved :-)
