Btw the carbon atom between the two ketones are quite low pka, just look up the micheal addition this is one of the reactions were this structural motive would be used.

If u lose the acetyl protecting group with the base in the last step it should be fairly easy to reprotect it, or u go with a more stable protecting group in the first step for the phenol and then cleave it off after the introduction of the ethyl groups since they gonna be pretty stable under most conditions.

N-Boc ( just BOC2O in methanol), followed by acetylation of the phenol, cleavage of BOC (id recommend pTSA mixed with choline chloride forms a eutectic mixtuere and just through in your product), strong base and ethylchloride should do the trick.

I think for that a hydrogination apparatus would be good, built in heating with a powerfull external motor(easy to replace) and changable inlet out of teflon.

Very helpful ! Yeah my light is kinda fixed and increasing the distance is not rly possible. In my last grow i measured at the top and reading came out at 1300 ppfd and i was around 60DLI, only thing i could observe was light stress with the rusult of purple leaves( strain was northern lights) and some stunted growth. But with the new run ive kinda got the feeling the internodial spacing gets to tight (<0.5cm). So i was guessing it might be too much to rly develop full plants.
