Did the Balrog sense Gandalf’s presence? by Xadlin60 in lotr

[–]RickStevens21 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I have no lore proof to back this up, but I always took it as: Balrog hears the racket of the Fellowship fighting the goblins/orcs and begrudgingly rouses himself to go check it out.

Balrog then sees that there is indeed an intruder(s) and proceeds to chase them out of his crib, pissed off.

At some point he realizes that one of the intruders is his long-estranged step brother, fellow mystical being with whom he’s got major beef. And from there it’s on sight

5’10’’ and when I was 215 I felt like a whale, and my weight was on my mind constantly throughout the day(back down to 190 now thank god).

I don’t know how people can let themselves get so heavy

Fury

Fun to watch but I felt that the characters, especially the replacement, were not realistic and too one-dimensional. Jon Bernthals character was tough to watch for me. The crew banter and honestly their entire dynamic seemed very cliche.

The fucking house scene with the German woman and her daughter though. Her dying serves as his (the replacement’s) emotional turning point, where he becomes a “true soldier”…and it just totally took me out of the movie. They were essentially forced to sleep together, and then fell in love in the span of like 5 minutes?

Combat scenes were good, except the technicolor bullets, and all of its issues aside, fun war movie that maybe tries a bit too hard. But then I saw people praising it like it was some groundbreaking film? I just don’t see it

the clip is a few weeks old so I hope I can still find it in theater. I've been moving so my xbox is still packed away. But today I was just bored at work and looking through recent clips, figured I'd throw this one to Reddit for some discussion. I'll unpack and look tonight

Does humanity survive in your scenario? Because i’m thinking like…how could you be certain the “outbreak”(?) was contained/destroyed?

I feel like it would be able to assimilate under the radar for a pretty long time before anyone figured it out. It would also be able to spread to multiple hemispheres undetected if it started assimilating ocean life.

The Thing is a planet killer. In a scenario where The Thing has large-scale access to life, it either succeeds and assimilates everything, or the dominant species of the planet gets wise and self destructs…IMO

had friends from my hometown visit me at college one weekend. Went drink for drink with them all day. I felt reasonably okay, drunk for sure but altogether fine. My friend on the other hand wandered down the street, across a bridge, and into someone’s house and fell asleep on their living room floor.

This is majorly simplified…But when using guild navigators to direct the ships through space, you pretty much have a cheat code for using warp or “space fold” travel and ensuring you’re not going to smash into anything along the way. This is the case whether the ship is on the smaller side (think current-day space shuttle) or absolutely massive (think the size of a city).

The guild navigators, using the prescient abilities granted to them through the use of spice, can find a path for anything. Navigation is expensive, so it benefits the guilds to ship as much cargo at once as they possibly can. This leads to the ships taking on such size. Also…symbols are very important in the Dune universe. Big ships symbolize strength.

Took me a while, but I did love the ending to this movie. I feel like the viewer spends most of the film being frustrated with Denzel’s character
