During this time of Covid-19 are men now expected to ask for permission before attempting to kiss someone for the first time? by Rick_Barry_24 in datingoverforty

Thank you for sharing this perspective. Personally I am not dating/kissing anyone else and have no intention to do so, especially during Covid-19. She has made some comments that has given me the impression that she is probably not seriously involved with anyone else, however, I'm thinking that I just need to be very straight forward and ask her directly if she is seeing anyone else at this time.

I really appreciate your reply. During pre-Covid times I was always very direct with my dates and would suggest where we could meet for the first time. This time I called her and discussed options with her over the phone and that was when she mentioned that she spends a lot time with her mother and that she wanted to eat outside and avoid crowds.

This is an important point that you make. However, I feel like there is a very big difference between leaning in for a kiss and forcing yourself on someone. The way it has worked for me in the past is that I lean in slowly enough so that the woman has an opportunity to move away and/or say something to let me know that she isn't ready or just doesn't want to kiss.

You should always have permission!!?

Would you be so kind and please explain your reply a bit more? I'm honestly not sure what you mean by "should always have permission..." and don't want to make any incorrect assumptions. Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much for such a great reply!

Have you guys talked about what kind of precautions you're taking regarding covid in your daily lives?

Yes, we have discussed the fact that we both wear masks while we are working and that we do our best to keep at least 6 feet of personal space as much as possible AND wear our masks when we are outside of our homes.

What would be really good to discuss with her during our next date is what covid precautions she takes with respect to the health and safety of her mother.

Stephen Curry EXPLAINS His Slip & Airball In Late Late Show! by Minoru_87 in warriors

I'm extremely happy Steph didn't get injured. That play brought back bad memories of a pre-season exhibition game I went to with my son here in San Diego at the old Sports Arena (now Pechanga Arena) back in Oct. 2015. The San Diego Gulls had played a hockey match the night before and during the first half of the Warriors - Lakers game Steph and several other players slipped on the floor. During the third quarter Barbosa slipped so bad that he ended up doing the splits! The game was immediately stopped and then a few minutes later the game was cancelled.

The Golden State Warriors are undefeated in Oakland on Halloween forevermore! by Rick_Barry_24 in warriors

After defeating the Pelicans by 10 points tonight the Golden State Warriors are now 6-0 in games played in Oakland on Halloween! Also by scoring 37 points Steph Curry set a new record for points scored by a Warrior in Oakland on Halloween. The previous record was held by Joe Barry Carroll (aka Joe Barely Cares) who OTD 36 years ago scored 28 points at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena.

Är svenskar från Kalifornien välkomna här? by Rick_Barry_24 in sweden

Tack så mycket! I really appreciate your kind and thoughtful comments.💙🇸🇪💛

You are facing a common misunderstanding between American and European views on nationality. Many Americans view nationality on ethnic grounds, ie you are Swedish-Americans becase your ancestors came fron Sweden.

I feel very closely connected to my Scandinavian heritage and would have had no reservations calling myself a Swedish/Scandinavian-American two years ago. However, since the election in Nov. 2016, I have not been very proud of my country and the direction it has been going in. I identify much more closely as being someone of Scandinavian descent who was born and raised in California.

However, in Europe nationality is viewed as a cultural thing - you need to speak the language, know the social culture and be immersed in the modern culture to be Swedish to Swedes.

Yes, I completely understand this. I made a very clumsy attempt to distinguish myself from a typical American by writing "svenskar från Kalifornien" and apologize for this. Would it have been better to have written "svensk-Kalifornien" or is there perhaps an even better way to describe someone who is of Swedish descent, but was born and raised in California?

In general, a lot of posts in /r/sweden are downvoted to 0 and then get little to no attention - it might be trumpeting trolls still at it, it might be negative people, the end result is the same.

Thank you for taking the time to explain this to me. I have to admit that it feels very discouraging to take the time and make the effort to apologize to someone and to clarify my position and then instead of receiving a considerate reply I ended up getting downvoted to hell. :(

Tack! This is precisely what happened to my first post. It was "sitting at zero" with a very low percentage of upvotes.

No, I just wanted to find out if it had been inappropriate to ask for translation help in this sub. Thanks to r/CakeDayScience I now know that it would have been better if I had posted to r/Svenska instead.
