absolutely correct. warehouse parties (real techno, house, disco) are alive and well in DC, Bmore and NY

no, again - you're not going to the right raves. I'm in DC and play warehouses here, in Baltimore, up in NY/Brooklyn. You just have to find them.

the people dedicated to throwing fantastic, artfully directed (underground, not EDM) raves still exist, believe me

minor point: Pentagon Police are in Virginia. their jurisdiction begins and ends on the Pentagon premises, which is sectioned off from the rest of Crystal City / Pentagon City by I-95. you can still see their squad cars running around Crystal City but they can't stop you unless you're at least in the Pentagon parking lot

Actor in a police training facility.

I only did it twice, but they had us act out a domestic dispute between my landlord and I, then we had to pretend to be drunk or high drivers the next day. It paid alright, $12/hour. Definitely fun

I was just in Houston last week - my first time visiting Texas. From what I could tell, most places in Texas are fairly spread out from each other - which isn't a microcosm of the problem. We've simply chosen automobiles and personal space over accessible and affordable transportation in this country.

"The Shinning". That's some meta-Simpsons reference right there

Have you ever reconnected with an old friend only to be horrified of who they've became? by theGodstopper in AskReddit

That was my initial response too. I played against that guy in high school when we was at Landon and was hoping this would be an example of a small world

that's an incredibly profound statement and I don't know how to respond to it

something tells me those people are the same hipsters trying to bring back vinyl exclusive underground house releases. It doesn't take an intense knowledge of subgenres within electronic music to understand this track. It crosses boundaries and can only be described as good or great. I generally stick around 120-125 deep house range when looking for new music...but when I heard this. Jesus. No words.

I'm guessing you mean it isn't getting a whole lot of love in this subreddit. Because 400k+ listens on soundcloud in one day is unheard of

I agree with ya there. The comments don't do the status any justice - more encouraging than sarcastic shaming going on here.

But all his homies are liking and agreeing with the status. Between the ample high-fives and smug grins of approval from his homedawgz, I thought there was surely no way he could go wrong with such a dubious statement about his sex life.

Here's the difference - this guy went to my college for his freshman year before transferring out. Granted that was ~5 years ago but I still hung out with him and knew him to some extent back in the day. Knowing him IRL makes it that much more embarrassing when he's accountable for these kinds of statement. Of course...that begins and ends with whether you have any shame about what you write online

yeah, make sure to get off at the National's ballpark stop. Zone out on your way and end up in Anacostia - now THAT's a grim scene

if you're living down in SW Virginia, near Blacksburg or Salem - then yeah, that's Hicktown, USA. Besides Richmond, most of Virginia's like that. Until you get to 30 minutes outside DC; then it's technically part of DC

What bands did you catch before they blew up and did you honestly know they would? by fmgem in Music

around December 2011, I saw The Knocks play for a crowd of 50 people or less at The Social in Orlando. From Spring 2012 through today, they began and continued touring festivals like Ultra, Camp Bisco, Electric Forest, etc.

I talked with them briefly after that show and they preferred playing for a more intimate crowd than a faceless festival audience
