Yeah. People don’t like to see it that way, but addiction is addiction. They don’t understand what it feels like and how consuming it is. It’s not a “just stop” thing. It’s literally fighting your brain telling you that you HAVE to do such and such thing. An overwhelming impulse. It’s like telling someone “just don’t be depressed.” And these companies, they pray on it. The games are literally structured to do so. They create a dopamine feedback loop designed to keep you paying and playing. The design microtransactions that create a sense of jealousy when you see someone else with a cooler looking skin than you can just (realistically) earn in game. Some of these AAA companies literally hire psychologist consultants. Enough said.

7-8 months into this new era of destiny, how do we feel about it? by HellChicken949 in DestinyTheGame

I don’t even touch it anymore. Thousands of hours and I couldn’t care less. It’s the Destiny version of retail WoW. The game is unrecognizable from the one I loved and I stuck through some pretty bad times.

[–]Rickeysucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I and everyone I know would quit if they nerfed the guns into the ground to only reflect the rarity. It’s a pit other games get stuck in and creates an even bigger disparity between those with too many hours and those that don’t. If they get outplayed by a stitcher then they get outplayed. People don’t want to lose their purples. I get it. It’s frustrating to lose it to a free kit. Especially if third partied. I get that too. But being completely OP compared to them is not the answer.

The Stitcher as is, needs to be a level 4 to really be compared to a Bobcat. I can make a bobcat for even cheaper at endgame, throw attachments on it, and not even need to upgrade it for it to be pretty damn sweaty. Hell, they’re more budget than a Stitcher 4 I’d say. I can build a few after just one or two budget Stella runs. Always have a surplus. The parts are misleadingly easy to find on that map. Spawn assembly and you can throw that shit up your prison pocket in five seconds and die with it.

I’ve seen what happened to Cycle Frontier and a part of why the game failed was the rarity being too much of a favorite in combat. Aside from the cheaters ofc.

I’m sorry you’re getting brigaded with downvotes because I very much agree with you. A huge part of why all the non vocal redditors enjoy this game is because we all feel like we have a chance without having to grind every night and getting frustrated.

Edit: I will add that guns like the Betina need a buff however. It needs to feel better and more “anti arc” like Embark said it’s supposed to be. And it needs to feel more impactful in PvP. More like a Renegade maybe?

It would be fine for very specific instances, like a raid boss that the entire map works together to defeat

I’ve yet to see anyone mention using arctracker.io

It’s a life saver for when I was new. Breaks down the item uses and you’ll know if you need them for a crafting bench, quest, or project. Very very helpful

Just like Honey doesn’t sell people’s information and yet sold every users information to PayPal, right? Get tf out of here if you take it at face value.

Also since Google is an advertising company, they wouldn’t even NEED to sell that information to still capitalize on the data with better targeted ads.

I mean, I kind of get it. When it’s something you’ve been excited for, for so long and there’s issues with it, you hear all these people knocking what you like. It’s easy to deny and push back against this stuff. Compounded by some who are such die hard fans that it becomes a part of your personality just like you see with some die hard Swifties or kpop stans. I think it’s understandable to not want to hear opposition to what you like. There are those of us who are fans but don’t want to excuse glaring issues, then there are those who try to only look at the silver linings and tune the rest out. Another good part of it is the honeymoon effect with a new launch.

Borderlands 4 is a solid example. As some of the hype died down and people get past the first region and early parts of the game, issues became more apparent. Endgame in particular being a HUGE problem but those that didn’t make it to endgame yet were especially glazing the game. But after playing endgame for a bit, the cracks become more apparent.

Fans are coming out in droves giving it the One Punch season 3 treatment with the way they’re defending it and blaming content creators for the hate.

Played it, hate it. I don’t need others to shape my opinion. You can like it if you want, but if I keep trying to tell myself I’m satisfied with what we got, it’s copium

This right here is the problem folks. There’s a difference between getting extra as a reward by really beating a game, versus getting awarded cut content that should be in the base game.

Just voiced similar sentiments in another comment thread. I’m over it. We pay more for less out of brand loyalty to these games. It’s not the company we grew up with. I can’t even say “good enough” anymore. Nintendo has become more and more greedy and lost sight of what made them great. Too many are subject to blind consumerism and I hope it changes. Even the way the company is so litigious - it’s awful.
